Detailed Description of the Procedures involved at each appointment Preparatory Stage 1.1.1.1. Prepare for extraction/ grafting/sedation/ send case to lab for temporary denture (Deposit Required)
• This is an appointment to review in detail the treatment plan that you’ve selected. It is also
an opportunity to prepare for the next appointment. In this case, the patient will require
extraction of a front tooth and bone grafting. The patient also prefers to have the procedures
done under sedation. So some basic information will be given to the patient as to what to expect
and how to prepare for being sedated during the dental procedure. Because the tooth to be
extracted involves a front tooth, a temporary denture will be made prior to the next appointment
and so impressions of the teeth will be taken at this appointment as well.
2. Extraction/ Grafting with sedation/Delivery of temporary denture (Payment Required)
• This is an appointment where the majority of the dentistry is done at this preparatory stage.
The procedures are done to prepare the area for implants. For this case, the patient will be
sedated for an extraction and bone grafting. Bone grafting is performed to preserve and to
increase the amount of bone in preparation for the implants at the next stage. The temporary
denture replacing the tooth to be extracted is also given to the patient at this time. Some
discomfort, swelling, and bleeding may be anticipated after this appointment but Dr. Leung will
prescribe the necessary medications to minimize the discomfort.
3. Follow up week 1 • About a week later, the patient returns for follow up care. Because there were many
procedures performed under sedation in the last visit, this appointment is an opportunity for the
patient to ask further questions if any. It also allows Dr. Leung to check that the area is healing
well and to check that the patient is adjusting well to the temporary denture. This is usually a
very short appointment but an important one to ensure that the patient is comfortable with the
treatment
4. Follow up week 2
• This is another follow up care appointment. Usually two weeks have elapsed since the dental
procedures have been performed and if there were any sutures placed, Dr. Leung will remove
them at this appointment. Also, the gum tissue should have healed more and the temporary
denture will be checked again for its fit and comfort. At this time, the patient will not have an
appointment for another four to six months to allow healing. But should there be any problem or
concern with the temporary denture, an appointment can be made as needed.

Surgical Stage 1. Prepare for implant surgery (Deposit Required)
• This appointment is usually made four to six months after the last appointment. It is
important to allow adequate time for healing before moving onto this stage. This appointment is
to review the treatment and to evaluate the area to see if it’s ready for the dental implants. One
or two x-rays may be required and further adjustment to the denture may be necessary. If the
patient prefers to have sedation, then he/she will be given the proper information as well
2. Surgical placement of implant #13, 12 +grafting (Payment Required) • This appointment involves the actual surgical placement of dental implants. Normally local
anesthetics, or freezing will be given. If the patient prefers, the procedure can also be done under
sedation. Some bone grafting will be done as required. The temporary denture may be relined or
adjusted as needed. Some discomfort, swelling, and bleeding may be anticipated after this
appointment but Dr. Leung will prescribe the necessary medications to minimize the discomfort
3. Follow up week 1
• A follow up appointment in a week ensures the patient has had no problem with the
procedures since the last visit. If needed, some adjustment to the temporary dentures will be done
as well.
4. Follow up week 2 • Another follow up appointment to remove sutures and to ensure everything is healing well.
After this appointment, the patient will not be seen for another four to six months.

Prosthetic Stage
1. Open up implants #13, 12 (Payment Required)
• During this appointment, the previously placed implants will be opened up and checked for
healing. This is considered a very minor surgical procedure so normally it does not require a
long period of healing. An abutment will be placed on top of the implant and some sutures may
be placed. This will allow gum tissue to heal around this abutment.
2. Final impression (2-4 weeks after) (Deposit Required) • Once the gum tissue has healed around the abutment, the patient will return for taking final
impression. This impression will be sent to the lab and the lab will begin fabricating the implant
crowns.
3. Metal framework try in (2 weeks after) • The first part of the implant crowns is the metal framework; it is the substructure that
supports the porcelain. This metal framework will be checked for its fit at this appointment. An
x-ray may be required. Once the fit is verified, it will be sent back to the lab for applying the
porcelain.
4. Delivery of implant crowns (2 weeks after) (Final Payment Required)
• The implant crowns have been returned from the lab and they will be checked in the mouth
for fit, for the bite and for the look. Once the patient is satisfied with the implant crowns, they
will be placed permanently on the implant. The crowns may be screwed directly onto the
implants or “glued” to the abutments that are screwed onto the implant. The exact design
depends on the positions and angulations of the implants as well as the patient’s own bite
5. Follow up • A final follow up care to ensure the patient is comfortable with the new implant crowns and
to ensure proper home care will take place.
