SAN III homage???
While doing my 5 mi. walk today at the local flea market , I came across this "gem" at one of the many
watch kiosks....It looks like the iconic Invicta SAN III.....but....it says ONYK on the dial. It was also
available in several color combos. Obviously the watch is a (clone or homage or fake) of the Invicta SAN
III and I figured I would check it out.
The watch case is made of some kind of light weight mystery metal and it is painted black. It is an exact
copy of the SAN III case except it is not threaded to accept the caseback which is snap on. The metal
band inserts are plastic along with the screws that attach them inside the strap. The bezel is also plastic
but it does rotate unidirectionally.
The strap has the same feel as The silicon strap that Invicta uses but it is much thinner. You wouldn't
need Eyal's arm strength to tear it in half.
The lume is on the hands ONLY and it is surprisingly not that bad.
(1 sec exposure and didn't really charge it in the Sun)
The crown guard is functional but the crown is not screw down , it just pulls out to set the time. There
is no date function. The chrono pushers also do not screw down. You can press the buttons and they
move , but the chrono is nonfunctioning. The subdial hands look real enough but the subdial hands are
only glued to the dial and give the appearance that the chrono is running.
The lug and upper strap screws are real but cheaply made. The strap insert screws are plastic and I
believe are false and glued together.
The size of the homage is identical to an original SAN III in every detail including the strap length. The
crystal is plastic. You can also see the glued on chrono hands to make it appear that the chrono is
running.
The case back is snap on and it does say SS and water resistant......I believe the WR is measured in
inches however...
Although the strap is an identical length , it is of poor quality. Look at the thickness of the buckle and
the thinness of the keepers as compared to an original.
With the caseback removed you can see the quartz power plant is a small Chinese one. There is no
caseback gasket.
The asking price for the watch was $15. I paid $10 for it just to show you guys Invicta homages do exist.
It is probably worth $5 or less. The plastic protective caseback wrap was labeled made in China
By the way , the SAN III homages were right next to some very colorful Swiss Legend Neptune homages
of very similar quality.
Well I hope you enjoyed the view and review of the SAN III homage. Thanks for looking and I look
forward to your comments. Have a great day!

Some craftsmen they are. They forgot to paint the white-out on the bezel at 4:00. I'd take it back, Rog. Or
you could send it to ONYK for repair. Did you pick that up on ShopFLEA? Today's Top Counterfeit? 6

Disposable?? Like throw away contact lenses. Wear it once and toss it.
Thanks for the review, Rog. Pretty interesting.

Thanks for the review. Not surprising. It seems everyone has a clone. I'll stick with the real deal on these.

I'll stick with the real one on this too. I would have bought the Neptune clone also but I couldn't afford
the sticker shock of another $10.

That was one hell of a review on a watch that I will never buy, but I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for

You can use the band for emergency purposes!! For $10 who could go wrong for a band replacement and
throw away the watch!

Who would have thought a knock off Invicta. This is the second post showing one of these the other was
a online retailer. I would have never imagined. Thanks Roger

Thanks for sharing Rog.
Once the warm weather hits here in NYC, you can go into Manhattan and find street vendors selling you
any homage you wish to buy.

Kickass review Rog, thanks! I just finished a 26mi ride and this was the first thread I opened up.
This kind of thing really helps me appreciate the craftsmanship and quality of the genuine thing...not that
I had any trouble before.
It's amazing, you can find knockoffs of almost anything! As a MTB'er I was surprised to find takedowns of
some boutique brands only a true enthusiast would know.

Hah!! WR measured in inches! Great stuff, sir! Thank you for doing all this, very
entertaining. I too ran across some of these just yesterday and remembered you had posted
this. These are from Geneva, which interestingly enough has much fancier knock-offs for
sale in a glass case in an Ultra Diamonds jewelry store about 20 feet away from this kiosk.
Hundreds and hundreds of dollars for straight knockoffs. Wild how this happens is such a
litigious society as ours.

Surely you jest. How could my one pic taken through glass of even crappier watches be in
any way better than your totally awesome, in-depth post packed with hilarity and
information?
Wait, are you talking about the actual watch! Right? Sorry. lol Uh, no, I would say that while
there are subtle differences in manufacture/presentation, they both stink on ice.

Good stuff Roger!!! I usually see the Lupah look-a-like design down here in NYC but the
Noma III design is definitely becoming more popular in many little shops around town.

We have some real good looking Lupah stuff here too (seen at Sawgrass Mall), I think made
by the master watchmakers at Joe Rodeo. They also clone that "R" brand. I would actually
like to change my name to Joe Rodeo......or maybe change it NY Jet's owner...Woody
Johnson...

Heheh, the things you'll find under a bed sheet on a fold up table on the sidewalk!
Remember when this stuff was mainly down on Canal?
Now it's right in front of the 5th Ave shops that sell the real thing!

If I did some of that with it.....there is no doubt in my mind that it WOULD break. With no
caseback gasket, I think sweat would seep into the case. I use my Deep Blue black PVD
quartz Juggy for those working chores around the house. That watch stays in my shed.
