Description of the Industrial Visit :
Industrial visit to Tushar Udyog [Export], D-80, Ambad MIDC, Nashik was organized for
the Second Year Mechanical Engineering Students. Total 95 Students and 05 Staffs
Members were present for the plant visit.
Mr. Tushar Patwardhan, Mnaging Director, Tushar Udyog [Export], permitted to visit
their industry by considering the academic importance and practical exposer to
students for Manufacturing Process-I Subject. As a part of academic, it is mandatory to
conduct industrial visit to a Casting plant according to S.E. Mechanical syllabus,
University of Pune.
Mr. Sandesh Shewale Sr. Engineer, Mr. Sanchet Kasar, Trainee Engineer, and Miss. Pooja
Awate, Trainee Engineer of Tushar Udyog guided our students during plant visit, they
had explained in detail the process flow, set up available with the foundary, technical
specification of the machines and use & applications of the resources.
In Tushar Udyog Aluminum casting are manufactured by Sand Casiting & Permanent
Die Casting Process. During Plant visit, Mr. Shewale had elaborated the different steps
involved in casting process, such as how to prepare sand mixture i.e. green mould sand,
how to prepare pattern, by using pattern how to make mould cavity in cope and drag,
what is the importance of Core Prints, core, Procedure in preparation of the core,
technical specification of the furnaces (oil and electric furnace), solidication time
calculations, after solidication how to remove casting from the mould, how to cut risers
and unwanted projections from the cast part, further processed involved, different
machining operations after casting processes, they have a very good set up of machine
shop also, they are having CNC Lathe, conventional Lathe, Drilling Machines and Milling
Machine for further Machining on Castings.
This industrial visit was a very successful and students will have definitely an added
advantage of practically observing the process. For the arranging this Industrial Visit
Prof. Pankaj Shirsath had taken the efforts.
