About … meeting of minds

The easternmost B-School of India, Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University which was established in 2003 have been pioneering management education in this part of the country since then. As part of its exercise to build a relationship with the industry, it has been organizing an intellectual convergence called SANMILAN since 2004 which is now in its 15th edition. It has now become a premier feature of the Dibrugarh University calendar. The convergence has been able to showcase the organizing abilities of the students of the

Centre and foster a relationship between the academia and the business world. tries to bring people from the industry and academics together to benefit the student community through addresses by experts, panel discussions and other events. This year, the

theme of is Unwrapping the Tourism Potential : Incredible India’s Awesome Assam. It is scheduled during 15 – 17 February, 2019.

Registration Fees for the intellectual convergence is ₹ 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred) only. Registration fees include a Kit and Food Coupons along with a Participation Certificate. Registration fees may be transferred online to our bank account or be paid in Cash. If paid directly, proof need to be submitted. Once somebody registers, he/she can participate in any number of events. Total prize money for SANMILAN 2019 is ₹ 76000/- (Rupees Seventy Six Thousand) only. We provide limited dormitory accommodation to outstation student delegates on pre-registration.

Events of … meeting of minds

Manthan is the panel discussion on the

theme. Moderated by an academician of repute, it has 3 – 4 other experienced panelists from the industry who deliberate on

the theme. A delegate can win a prize of ₹ 1000 (Rupees One Thousand) only if his/her question is selected as the best question being put to the panelists. Venue will be Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Auditorium, Dibrugarh University.

Straight Talk is a direct interaction with an

Expert on the theme. It is moderated by an academician of repute. A Delegate can win a

prize of ₹ 1000 (Rupees One Thousand) only if his/her question is selected as the best question being put to the expert. Venue will be Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Auditorium, Dibrugarh University.

BizMantra is the open Business Quiz. Two

members make a team. Winners pocket ₹ 8000 (Rupees Eight Thousand) only. The

second best team gets ₹ 5000 (Rupees Five Thousand) only while the third best team gets

₹ 3000 (Rupees Three Thousand) only. All

other finalists get ₹ 1000 (Rupees One Thousand) only. Audience can win a special

prize of ₹ 1000 (Rupees One Thousand) only. Members of the top three teams will get

certificates. Venue will be Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Auditorium, Dibrugarh University.

Super Investor is the investment portfolio

competition. Two members make a team. The teams have to maximize investments on intra-day trading in the stock market (Bombay Stock Exchange). This competition is played on real-time stock prices at the BSE. The winning

team pockets ₹ 6000 (Rupees Six Thousand) only plus individual certificates. Venue will be New Seminar Hall, CMSDU.

Khoj is the treasure hunt competition. Four

members make a team. The teams have to slog it out for two days to solve riddles, win games and clear survival strategies to get the treasure and win the prize. The winning

team pockets ₹ 6000 (Rupees Six Thousand) only plus individual certificates. Venue will be New Seminar Hall, CMSDU.

Rhythm is the voice of Dibrugarh University

competition. Only one participant is allowed from a college/institute/Centre/Department. The college/institute must be affiliated to

Dibrugarh University. The winner pockets ₹ 7000 (Rupees Six Thousand) only while the

2nd and 3rd best participant wins ₹ 3000

(Rupees Three Thousand) only and ₹ 2000

(Rupees Two Thousand) only. All other finalists get ₹ 1000 (Rupees One Thousand) only. The winner is also given a customized trophy. All finalists get certificates. Venue will be Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Auditorium, Dibrugarh University.

Competition Information: Participant has to be certified by the Head / Chairperson as being nominated from

the Department / Centre / Institute / College.

Instrument Support will be provided by the organizers.

There will be two/three rounds – Screening and/or Prelims & Finals. Screening / Prelims will be held on February 16, 2019 (Saturday). Finals will be held on February 17, 2019 (Sunday).

At most 6 participants will be selected for the Finals.

Judges’ decision shall be final and binding.

Competition Information:

AdLab is the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) competition of

… meeting of minds. IMC is the application of consistent brand

messaging across both traditional and non-traditional marketing channels and using different promotional methods to reinforce each other.

Four member teams. All members must register for SANMILAN 2019 individually.

Scoring areas – Branding (logo & tagline), Big Idea for the campaign, Content (How brief and smart), impact (punch), and presentation.

Presentation on 16.02.2019 (Saturday) from 0900 Hrs at CMSDU New Seminar Hall. 15 minutes for presentation, 5 minutes for interaction.

The maximum number of teams that will be shortlisted is six. Only shortlisted teams will need to register for SANMILAN 2019.

Judges’ decision will be final & binding.

Entries must be submitted via email to [email protected] latest by February 5, 2019. Shortlisted entries will be informed by February 10, 2019 about their selection. No changes will be allowed after submission.

Subject Brief: The Integrated Marketing Campaign (IMC) should drive home the point that the Government of Assam is committed promote tourism in Assam in the wider backdrop of promoting tourism in India. This means both Awesome Assam and Incredible India are important

The Assam Tourism has come-up with the new brand entity Awesome Assam to promote Assam Tourism outside Assam. Some interesting information on the campaign may be had from magicalassam.com/2016/09/awesome-assam.html

Why the Campaign? The Government of Assam is interested in exploiting the immense tourism potential of Assam to lure foreign tourists to the state. But the Government of Assam believes that it must also focus on those foreign tourists who visit India but now must be convinced to include Assam in their travel itinerary.

What to do? Create an IMC campaign including print, OOH (Out of Home), TVC (Television

Commercial), Web Ad, Radio or any other media. At least three different media should be used to create the IMC. For e.g., you may use print, TVC and Web Ad.

The language should only be English.

Print Ad, if used should be a collection of three different ads, based on one central campaign idea

Each TV Spot, if made, should last for around three minutes in enactment.

Web Ad can be in the form of banners. The banners should be different than those used for print ad.

Radio Ad may be in the form of voice recording. .

Competition Information: Empresa is the Business Plan competition of … meeting of minds. A

business plan is a formal statement of business goals, reasons they are attainable, and plans for reaching them. It may also contain background information about the organization or team attempting to reach those goals.

Four member teams. All members must register for SANMILAN 2019 individually.

Scoring areas – Business Viability, Content of the Business Plan, Presentation.

Presentation on 16.02.2019 (Saturday) from 1130 Hrs at CMSDU New Seminar Hall. 15 minutes for presentation, 5 minutes for interaction.

The maximum number of teams that will be shortlisted is six. Only shortlisted teams will need to register for SANMILAN 2019.

Structure of the Business Plan: The following structure should be used to create the Business Plan.

Cover Page – This should include the name of the project, your name and contact information.

Table of Contents (TOC) – Should help readers to easily find what they are looking for.

Executive Summary – Should be brief and formal.

Business Description – This should have a high-level overview of the proposed venture.

Industry Background – Should have historical data as well as current information about the shape, size, trends and key features of the industry.

Competitive Analysis – Should contain a breakdown of current and prospective rivals.

Operations Plan – Should show the flow of the business’s daily activities and supporting strategies.

Marketing Plan – Should highlight the strategy for selling the product or service.

Financial Plan – Should have a synopsis of the current status and future projections of the company’s financial performance.

Attachments and Milestones – Additional documents that supply more detailed information about elements of the plan.

What to do? Create a Business Plan for any tourism related business in MS Word format.

Limit the MS Word File to 20 pages.

Clicke is the Photography competition of … meeting of minds. In this

competition, the participant will show a series of self-clicked photographs depicting the theme.

Participants will compete individually. He / she must register for SANMILAN 2019.

Scoring areas – Story, Technical Knowledge, Creativity and Presentation.

Presentation on 16.02.2019 (Saturday) from 1500 Hrs at CMSDU New Seminar Hall. 6 minutes for presentation, 4 minutes for interaction.

The maximum number of contestants that will be shortlisted is eight. Only shortlisted contestants will need to register for SANMILAN 2019.

Judges’ decision will be final & binding. Entries must be submitted via email to [email protected] latest by February 5,

2019. Shortlisted entries will be informed by February 10, 2019 about their selection. No changes will be allowed after submission.

For the competition, assume the following: Theme: Incredible India / Awesome Assam

Subject Brief: The photo feature should drive home the concept and feel of Incredible India / Awesome Assam.

self-clicked photographs. The slide show can consist of text and other graphics.

The language used should only be English.

PPT size should not exceed 10 MB.

Use freely available background music for the slide show. .

Shristi is an art & crafts exhibition.

Students can showcase their paintings, hand-made items, artifacts, etc. excluding photographs. The showcased products can be sold also if it is so desired. The exhibition will be held at CMSDU and will be open during 15 - 17 February, 2019/

Additional Information:

Acceptance of items for exhibition at the discretion of the organizers.

Last date for acceptance of items is February 12, 2019.

Participants who are allowed to showcase their exhibitions will sign an agreement with the organizers detailing the exhibits and other terms. The undertaking form is at the end of this booklet.

30% of the sale proceeds (if any) will be retained by the organizers.

Participants are allowed to be at the exhibition area, if they so desire.
