Dear Friends -
Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore
Santa Barbara
Some Like ItReal HotI t was a picturesque summer day at The Mikimoto
Polo Challenge. The event was filled with champagne,
super cars, gourmet local cuisine, VIP hot air balloon
rides and of course Mikimoto's fine pearl Jewelry with a polo
match to follow. The exclusive few were selected to ride the VIP
“Polo Balloon” where lunch was provided through battle of the
Chefs cookoff.

Back on land, Executive Chef Alesandro Cartumini from from the Four Seasons Biltmore, Executive Chef David Reardon from Bacara Resort & Spa, and Executive Chef Jason Tuley from Anchor WoodFire Kitchen each chose an exquisite dish to demonstrate and serve. Votes from the guests determined the winning dish. In the end, Chef Alesandro Cartumini from was the victor, with his salad of Maine lobster, peach, watercress, and avocado puree.
After the wine, Chef Cartumini was paraded around the polo field in a brand new Maserati.During the David and Goliath themed match, spectacular sportsmanshop was displayed under the Carpinteria sun. At the traditional Half-Time Divot Stomp, Lana Marme, a top fashion retailer in Montecito, awarded a $500 gift certificate to the winning Divot Diva. All proceeds went to the Polo Training Center Santa Barbara.
DID YOU KNOW?
Mikimoto's cultured Akoyal pearl necklaces became famous after one of Hollywood's most beloved stars, Marilyn Monroe, fashioned them quite frequently. The necklace was a gift from her second husband, baseball legend Joe DiMaggio, who purchased the necklace from Mikimoto, in Japan, while on their honeymoon. Like Monroe, guests at the event had a wonderful time trying on and purchasing Mikimoto pearls.

Avila Beach
After a short drive through the beautiful
California wine country and coastline I arrived in
Avila Beach, a quaint, cute and sophisticated little
town. With lush mountains behind me and the vast
ocean in front, I experienced the best of both worlds,
the perfect mix of rustic elegance in a serene and
relaxing beach front environment. To let you in
on the highlights, I relaxed at a luxury mineral spa,
wandered the beach, explored tide pools by a guided
boat tour, danced at the Avila Farmer’s Market,
indulged in some amazing champagne tasting...
