The more scratches and marlis, the better. I find boxes at flea markets, antique shops and on the inrernet." Santander finds that these rwo distinct series involve objects he can claim and make uniquely his own. Both objects allow him ro creare a cerrain look and sryle that is completely original in the genre of photorealism. "Coliectors like rhe fact that I am the only painter doing many of these subjeos," says Santander. "The photographic technique, rhe bright colors and rhe level of detail are also very seductive ro t}re collecors. lVith these new painrings, I have also tried ro infi.rse them with a greater originality and a more powerfiri scale.
