The SAP Activate methodology for cloud is an agile methodology that consists of four phases.*

The phases have slightly shifted compared to the previously used SAP Launch methodology.**

Quality is guarded by mandatory quality gates at the end of each phase.This way issues are detected as early as possible instead of just before deployment.

During the Prepare phase everything is put in place to start the project optimally.

The Prepare phase contains the initial planning and preparation.The project is started, the plans are finalized and the project team is assigned.

During the Prepare phase the requirements are gathered, analyzed and prioritized.

The Explore phase performs the fit/gap analysis to validate the solution functionality for the project scope.Usually this analysis is done in iterative steps to allow for a more in-depth approach and optimal client involvment.

Identified gaps and requirements are listed and prioritized in a backlog for use in the next phase.

During the Realize phase the system is built, data is loaded and change management is planned.

The Realize phase uses a series of iterations to incrementally build and test an integrated environment.This business and system environment is based on the scenario’s and requirements identified in the Explore phase.

Also during this phase, the data is (incrementally) loaded, adoption activities are started and operations are planned.

During the Deploy phase everything is prepared for the client to start using the new system.

The Deploy phase moves the setup to the production environment, confirms client readinessand switches operations to the new system. After go-live hyper-care is provided, followed by project closure.
