Security, Data Loading & Backup

1. How do I recover lost data?

Your SAP HANA Infrastructure Services instance is configured to back up data and logs to a separate storage volume from which data can be recovered. Log backup is performed periodically as needed. Data backup is recommended periodically and before any system upgrade to protect data and SAP HANA artifacts. You can use SAP HANA Studio for all backup and recovery or SAP HANA Cloud Management Console for data backup and recovery.

2. What happens to my data when I shut down my SAP HANA Infrastructure Services instance?

Your SAP HANA Infrastructure Services instance is backed up by persistent storage and will remain attached until you terminate the instance.

3. How secure is the SAP HANA Infrastructure Services environment for my company’s data?

• SAP HANA Infrastructure Services provides a very secure environment for your company's data. Each customer is assigned to a VLAN. Multiple services under the same account are assigned to the same VLAN. Therefore, a customer will need to know just one user id/password combination for the services under that account. Instructions for setting up VPN access to your SAP HANA Infrastructure Services can be found in the Quick Start Guide.

• Data stored in SAP HANA is protected via regular SAP HANA security capabilities (authentication and authorization).

• Shipping of the customer data between a customer site and the SAP HANA Infrastructure Services is handled securely via encryption, if applicable. The customer is responsible for encrypting and decrypting the data. Hence, only the customer has access to un-encrypted data.

4. How is the process of initial loading of the data into SAP HANA Infrastructure Services handled?

• Physical Media: The customer creates an archive file with the data, then compresses and encrypts the archive file.

• This can be shipped on customer- provided media (CD, DVD, USB storage) to the SAP HANA Infrastructure Services data center where SAP HANA Infrastructure Services operations will perform a virus scan and transfer the data file to the customer VLAN. The customer is then responsible for decrypting, uncompressing and loading the data into their SAP HANA Infrastructure Services instance. Note that the encryption key stays with the customer at all times.

Page 6: SAP HANA Cloud Platform FAQ - Business - March 2014

• Electronic Transfer: The customer will be provided access to a SFTP server with a user and password (password to be reset at first login). The customer can then transfer the data directing over the network into SAP HANA Infrastructure Services instance. This may not be a viable option for larger data volumes.

5. Can a backup of my SAP HANA Infrastructure Services instance be restored to an on-premise instance of SAP HANA?

Yes, as long as your SAP HANA Infrastructure Services and SAP HANA on-premise licenses are valid and the SAP HANA versions match, backup data can be transferred. Please follow your license agreements carefully before you transfer any data between SAP HANA Infrastructure Services and SAP HANA on-premise.

Cancellation Process

1. How do the customers cancel their subscription?

Cancellation requires 10 days advance notice. Customers can trigger their cancellation through the SAP HANA Infrastructure Services support system (OSS). SAP processes the payment, decommissions the server at termination date, and makes data available to the customer. All communications are made through OSS messages.

2. How do the customers recover their data after cancelling their subscription?

All the data and the 3rd party application images belong to the customer. To recover these after the customer cancels his subscription, the customers can use the following services:

• Take a complete data backup. This backup can be transferred to any SAP HANA system with

valid license to recover • Export SAP HANA artifacts using SAP HANA Studio or command line tools and import into any

SAP HANA system • Request data to be mailed to the customer via high capacity HDDs for exceptionally large volumes of

data

3. How long after cancellation can the customers recover their data? Customers will have access to backup volumes for 30 days after the cancellation of the service.
