Account management

Sales customer account management through account activities, sales opportunities, and service requests.

Group dashboard downloadable report: A sales associate downloads the last three months of group member engagement for various opportunities in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The data is then imported into a third party software tool for further metric analysis, as well as re-use in some presentation slides for a quarterly meeting.

Design registration collaboration

Sales channel partners and brand owners to review, discuss, and approve a design registration in high-tech or semi-conductor industries.

Recurring events: A Channel partner can set up a weekly status update meeting in the group calendar for the next ten weeks until a design registration module has been approved. After that, she can update the event to have the meetings occur on a bi-weekly basis until the status updates are no longer necessary for her team's project.

Help and support Human Resources

support for a Q&A community designed for members and experts to help each other on a particular topic of interest.

Auto suggest answer to question from previous post in forums: As an employee begins to type a question about a new benefits policy, a few forum topics about benefits policies that have already been asked and answered automatically appear. The employee reviews those answers first, and finds that he no longer needs to ask the question..

Request to join a subgroup: A public main group that caters to questions for employees who are new to the organization also contains a public sub group for employees working abroad. A manager who has just started working in one of the remote offices has clicked on the subgroup URL for the employees working abroad group to participate in discussions on relocation assistance programs. He is directed to a terms of use page for both groups; once he has accepted the terms of use for both, the manager access the main group and subgroups. He clicks Request to Join for the subgroup, and agrees to also become a member of the main group when prompted.

Social learning Human Resources

instructors and participants share, collaborate, and learn in a dedicated space.

Opportunity deal room

Sales the sales team in gathering requirements, planning, and strategizing around a sales opportunity.

Content item comments: A project member who worked on a white paper has received feedback for two versions of his document. To help him sort through and address each comment, he chooses to view all comments for each page for each version rather than all comments for the entire document.

Social onboarding Human Resources

onboarding of new employees into an organization via recommendations, knowledge sharing, and networking.

Recurring events: New employees are invited to an occurrence of the weekly lunch and learn event for the first month of their employment. Fellow group members invite subject matter experts and a moderator to the entire series.

members.

1.9 Member lists

When working with groups especially in medium to large sized organizations, it may become difficult to recognize who should be invited to a group. Published member lists can offer a means to save time in inviting users one by one. They can be created by manually adding existing SAP Jam users, importing another member list, pasting a list of comma-separated email addresses or importing a CSV file with comma separated email addresses. For this release, member lists can be specified as public or private.

The auto groups feature (i.e., unique group types that can only be set up and configured by company administrators) has been deprecated and will be retired from the application by the general availability release date of Thursday, December 1, 2016. Auto groups will be converted to regular groups types that use member lists for automatic management of group membership.

The rules used to govern auto group membership will be converted into new dynamic member lists where those lists will be applied to the group. If static member lists were used to manage the auto group, then the new group type will continue to use those static member lists for membership management.

1.16 Subgroups

Subgroups can contain a subset of members from a main group. This allows them to have a distinct subgroup environment in which to collaborate.

Table 17: Join a Subgroup

Feature Description

Join a public subgroup of a public main group via URL

● When you click a URL to join a public subgroup, and you are also not already a member of the public main group, you will see a page that prompts you to read and accept the Group Terms of Use for the main group and its subgroup. When you select the "I understand the Terms Of Use" checkbox for both subgroup and main group and then click Accept, you are then able to view both groups. This takes you to the group overview page where you can click Join Group to become a member. If you only accept the terms of use for the parent group, you won't be able to access the subgroup.

● You must join the main group first before you can join the subgroup.

Join a private subgroup of a public main group

● To join a private subgroup, you must first accept the terms of use for the public main group before accessing the private subgroup and submitting a request to join.

Join a subgroup via Subgroups page

● If you go to the Subgroups page for a main group where you are not yet a member, find a public subgroup and then click Join Group, a message displays asking if you want to join both groups. Once you click OK, a message appears confirming that you are now a member of both groups.

3 Feature deprecation

The following section lists the features that have begun deprecation in this release, will be fully deprecated in the next release, or are retired as of this release. When a feature is deprecated, enhancements to it cease and customers are advised not to use the feature.

Table 22: Feature deprecation

Feature Description

Auto groups ● The auto groups feature has been deprecated and will be retired from the application by the general availability release date of Thursday, December 1, 2016.

● Auto groups will be migrated to the appropriate type of regular group. The rules used to govern their membership will be migrated into new dynamic member lists where those lists will be applied to the group. If static member lists were used to manage the Auto group, then the new group type will continue to use those static member lists for membership management.

● Administrators can no longer create or edit auto groups.

Company tab ● In the SAP Jam Admin console under Product Setup Features Deprecated Features , the Enable Company Section option is turned off by default for all new companies.

Dynamic widgets for HTML wiki editor

● Deprecation for dynamic widgets is in progress, since the previous release in August. The dynamic widgets on the HTML editor toolbar have been removed. No new dynamic widgets can be added. Wiki pages with existing dynamic widgets will continue to work.

Compare versions in wiki pages

● The ability to compare versions of a wiki page begins deprecation as of this release.
