It’s a Confusing Time in HCM

Page 3: SAP Landscape Discussion-Darren Souter

In the Beginning, There Was Only SAP ERP HCM

In 2012, SAP Purchased SuccessFactors

On-Premise SAP Customers Are Starting to

Migrate Individual Modules to SuccessFactors

Integration Has Generally Used Dell Boomi, Flat

Most Customers Are Still Running Payroll Though, So

They Still Need Data In An SAP ERP Environment

Customers must decide to maintain data in one system or the other. Integration will then migrate the relevant Payroll data to the on-premise system

The amount of data to be moved may vary- Do we just need to run

payroll?- Do we have other

interfaces / reports / functionality that requires additional data

EC Payroll

EC Payroll is a hosted SAP ERP environment. Customers will migrate to this environment when- They are a new

implementation - They do not want to

maintain their existing SAP infrastructure

Page 11: SAP Landscape Discussion-Darren Souter

Most Existing SAP Customers Are Keeping Their

Payroll On-Premise For Now

Why Move to the Cloud?

• There are many reasons for this, including:- Better functionality (Example: Recruiting, Learning, Compensation)

- Future-proof: SAP will invest most of their revenue into this direction

- No need for infrastructure

- Automatic updates of releases

The move needs a business case and often savings to go with it

My Observations: What are Customers Doing?

Existing SAP Customers - SuccessFactors

- Many have implemented one or more SuccessFactors modules- They often start by selecting modules that they are not already using

in SAP

- Replacing the SAP modules with SuccessFactors modules is dependent upon Need / Functionality and Roadmap. Example: Many customers move to SuccessFactors Recruiting due to additional functionality

- Some customers are implementing Employee Central instead of rolling out Employee Self-Service / Manager Self-Service

- Some are implementing Workforce Analytics but not as much uptake yet as I would have thought

Page 29: SAP Landscape Discussion-Darren Souter

My Observations: What are Customers Doing?

Existing SAP Customers – SAP ERP

- Planning to leave payroll on-premise

- Upgrading their existing SAP environments- Taking advantage of HR Renewal and Fiori functionality

- Starting to see some customers migrating onto HANA as part of systemwide upgrades (For example: As part of upgrading existing CRM functionality onto HANA)

- There is interest in mobile applications (Fiori) but we haven’t see a lot of customers roll this out

- Now looking to invest where clear business process improvements can be made

Page 30: SAP Landscape Discussion-Darren Souter

My Observations: What are Customers Doing?

New SAP / SuccessFactors Customers

- Implementing straight away to the cloud (SuccessFactors and Employee Central Payroll)

- Not all are going to the cloud - Some are still implementing on-premise

Page 31: SAP Landscape Discussion-Darren Souter

Final Considerations (Especially for Payroll

Customers)

• Overall – There is no single direction. As SAP states:

– Start Anywhere, Go Everywhere

• Regardless of whether Payroll is in the Cloud or remains on-premise, from a Payroll perspective it is valid to still invest in/maintain these environments

• Reporting- Determine what is Analytic vs. Transactional

- Use the right tool for the right job

- No one tool will do everything
