Blackboard (LMS) – SLCM Integrationat University of Maastricht

Goal of the integration:

Interface will be established between SAP Student Lifecycle Management andBlackboard to transfer data via PI and the Post Processing Framework (PI=ProcessIntegration) to Blackboard’s Learning Management system. The data includes, e.g.,

Relation Modules – Students (ENROLL)Modules (COURSES)Organizational units - Modules (ORG)Users => Students (USERS)

Characteristics of the Integration:At the University of Maastricht the integration will be one way only. Technically, theintegration is possible in both directions.SAP SLCM provides “out of the box” Enterprise Services to establish the connectionbetween SAP SLCM and PI. These XML-files, which include the relevant information, arecreated in SLCM and sent over to PI. Customers can enhance existing services in orderto add customer data.These services are generated each time when there is a data change in SAP SLCM.

Planned Go Live: July 2009

Conclusion and Recommendation

All innovation and development in the BI front-ends is now focused onthe SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions while the BI front-end tools withinSAP NetWeaver will no longer be the strategic direction

SAP will continue to protect your investments in SAP NetWeaver BIfront-end tools (SAP BEx Suite) through SAP’s Enterprise Supportofferings.

However, SAP recommends that customers adopt the new SAPBusinessObjects Intelligence Platform for enhanced and strategic BIneeds

The SAP BusinessObjects Intelligence Platform fully leverages the SAPNetWeaver Business Warehouse (BW) and SAP NetWeaver BWAccelerator meaning there is no reason to disrupt current SAP datawarehouse projects
