INTRODUCTION1. Indian Railways is having the world’s largest railway network.

2. There are a large number of the accidents that are happening.

3. Many lives are lost and there is a huge loss of the railway and the national property.

Page 4: SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

4. Most of the accidents occur due to negligence

technical faults

non-reliable data and late understanding

slow or no response towards the danger signs considered small.

5. Thus there is need to deploy the auto-alert and auto-control systems.

PRINCIPLE AND WORKING

The main principle that is used for the safety of the Indian Railways is that

- Vibrations produced in railway tracks.1. Metal tracks2. Connection of tracks by Fish plates

- Microphones on the tracks

- Carbon microphones

- Software And DBMS:

- Fibre Optic Wires:- transfer of the data and the signals with the speed

Page 6: SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

- GPS (Global Positioning System)

1. To get the speed and exact position of the train.

2. As the anti-collision device.

3. Provides the means of the communication.

GLOBAL POSITIONINGSYSTEM

1.The GPS is a world wide network radionavigation system formed from a constellation of minimum of the 24 satellites and their ground stations.

Page 9: SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

2. The GPS technology makes the use of the triangulation method for the determination of the four co-ordinates

Page 10: SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

3. The GPS contains a combination of at least 24 satellites that are moving in six of the orbital planes which are 60 degrees equally spaced.

4. Each having a 4 number of the satellite in them. These are inclined at 55 degrees to the equatorial plane

Page 11: SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

5. This arrangement makes it possible that the receiver is always in range at least 4-5 satellites

Page 12: SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

6. There are many ground stations that are keeping a close watch on these satellites

7. These ground stations also maintain the clock of the satellite.

ON-BOARD UNIT WITH GPS

The on-board unit consists of :

1. communication satellite antennae,

2. satellite positioning antennae,

3. the on-board receiver system and

4. communication interface devices, etc

IMPORTANT ESTABLISHMENTS

1. Need of the towers for the transfer of the details and the communication between other establishments, trains and the satellites.

2. A visual display system to show the actual position of the trains along with other details like visual and audio warning systems.

3. Receivers and the transmitters tuned to proper frequencies and in accordance to the network (5.925 to 6.425 GHz (for uplink) & 3.700 to 4.200 GHz (for downlink) .

Page 16: SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

EXPECTED BENEFITS1. Railway Safety

2. Automation in the Work.

3. Reduction in the Stress Levels because of the good equipments and machinery.

4. Time Delays: As every time the position of the train will be known thus there will not be any time delays.

5. Train Traffic Control: due to continuous monitoring of the trains there will be a good train traffic control.

6. Futuristic method: with this method it is possible to make fully automatic train network which may even not have the driver in it.

Page 17: SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

CONCLUSIONThe benefits and advantages of the proposed method outnumber the problems and disadvantages. Also this method is having good expected results. Thus the proposal should be considered for the most important transport system in India and for the safety the costliest ‘human life’ and the national property.
