SAU, Tandojam, Pakistan established the linkages with CAAS and its

different Institutes

Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, Pakistan has signed four Memorandum of

Understanding (MoUs) by worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon

with Research Institute of Pomology of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences

(IPCAAS), Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province; Institute of Cotton, Research Chinese

Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ICR.CAAS), Anyang, Henan Province and

Institute of Vegetable and Flower, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences

(IVF.CAAS), Beijing, P.R China for bilateral and multilateral cooperation and

collaboration in order to build up the linkage of SAU, Tandojam, Pakistan.

The recent MoUs will be beneficial to develop the national and international linkages

for the uplift and advancement of university ranking in Pakistan and worldwide.

Recently, the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon and his

delegates including Prof. Dr. Maqsood Anwar Rustmani, Dean Faculty of Crop

Protection, SAU, Tandojam, Dr. M. Ibrahim Khaskheli, Assistant Professor,

Department of Plant Protection and Dr. Niaz Ahmed Wahocho, Assistant Professor,

Department of Horticulture, SAU, Tandojam, Pakistan visited the various institutes of

China particularly belongs to the Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS),

Beijing. Several activities and meetings were arranged with sincere efforts and great

contribution made by Dr. M. Ibrahim Khaskheli, held from 10 to 15th

July, 2015 for

the advancement of SAU, Tandojam, Pakistan.

There will be several benefits for the faculty and students of SAU with these linkages

in the future. With great efforts of Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon, Vice Chancellor,

the most important window for the undergraduate students has been opened to

conduct internship of 2-3 months. Exchange of faculty personals and students for

short term training, PhD and Post Dcos are the great achievements. However, three

other MoU were also discussed by the worthy Vice Chancellor, firstly with Graduate

School of Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (GSCAAS), Beijing; secondly

with Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS), Beijing and thirdly with

Institute of Plant Protection of CAAS (IPPCAAS), Beijing, P.R. China. It was assured

by the leaders of the academy and institutes to get signed in couple of weeks.

1. MoU between SAU, Tandojam and IPCAAS, China

The Research Institute of Pomology of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences

(IPCAAS) is located in Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province of China. This institute is

mainly focusing on several basic and advanced aspects of different subtropical and

temperate fruit crops. Due to busy schedule and hence late arrival of worthy Vice

Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon in China; Dr. M.Ibrahim Khaskheli and

Dr. Niaz Ahmed Wahocho participated in the first MoU ceremony. Dr. M. Ibrahim

Khaskheli on behalf of Worthy Vice Chancellor, SAU, Tandojam, Pakistan and Prof.

Dr. Liu Fengzhi, Director General on behalf of IPCAAS signed the MoU for bilateral

cooperation on 07th

July, 2015, during the closing ceremony of International Training

workshop of Fruit Production Technology. In addition, the multilateral cooperation

agreement was also signed among IPPCAAS, China; SAU, Tandojam, Pakistan and

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh to research and explore on various

aspects of Anthranose disease. The leading members of multilateral cooperation are

Prof. Dr. Zhou Zongshan, Director, Department of Plant Protection, IPPCAAS, China;

Dr. M. Ibrahim Khaskheli, Assistant Professor, Department of Plant Protection, SAU,

Tandojam, Pakistan and Dr. F.M.Aminuzzaman, Professor, Department of Plant

Pathology, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh. With this cooperation,

several windows are opened for SAU faculty and students to work jointly and

exchange their research ideas. Based on the mutual cooperation several research

projects would possibly be designed by both sides on current emerging issues.

Exchange of faculty personals and students for short term training, PhD and Post

Dcos are the integral parts of this MoU.

Institute of Cotton Research Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ICR.CAAS)

is located in Anyang city, Henan province of P.R China. ICR.CAAS is mainly dealing

basic and advanced research specifically for cotton crop. This institute has a status of

National level due to the highly equipped facilities and advanced research works. It

has a state key laboratory of cotton biology and medium term gene bank of cotton

germplasm in addition to several other laboratories and infrastructures. Based on

mutual interest of SAU, Tandojam and ICR.CAAS, China; Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin

Memon, Vice Chancellor, SAU, Tandojam, Pakistan and Prof. Dr. Fuguang Li,

Director General of ICR.CAAS signed the MoU on 13th

July, 2015 for future

cooperation and collaboration of both organizations. To deal the future activities

between the two organization; Prof. Dr. Maqsood Anwar, Dean, FCPT, Dr. M.

Ibrahim Khaskheli, Assistant Professor, Department of Protection, and Dr. Niaz

Ahmed Wahocho, Assistant Professor, Department of Horticulture are the

representative of SAU, Tandojam while on behalf ICR.CAAS, Prof. Dr. Kumbo Wang,

Vice Director and Prof. Dr. Xiongming Du, Director, Crop Germplasm; are the

coordinators.

Several issues were discussed for bilateral cooperation during the meeting that will be

focused in near future. With great efforts of Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon, Vice

3. MoU between SAU, Tandojam and GSCAAS, China

The Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (GSCAAS) is the

degree awarding institute of CAAS. To extend the academic cooperation between

SAU, Tandjam and GSCAAS, China, the meeting was held on 14th

July afternoon at

second floor of GSCAAS meeting room. The meeting was attended by Worthy Vice

Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon, Prof. Dr. Maqsood Anwar, Dean; Dr. M.

Ibrahim Kashkheli, Assistant Professor, Department of Protection and Dr. Niaz

Ahmed Wahocho, Assistant Professor, Department of Horticulture from SAU,

Tandojam. While Prof. Han Huipeng, Executive Vice President; Prof. Liu Rongle, Vice

President; Prof. Wang Xunqing, Division Chief of International Education Office, and

Ms Zhang Chun, International Education Office from GSCAAS, Beijing, P.R China.

Worthy Vice Chancellor mad successful talks with the leaders of GSCAAS and got

agreed to sign the MoU in couple of weeks. GSCAAS also agreed to provide the slots

of five scholarships for SAU faculty to pursue the PhD degree. SAU faculty will be

passed through all the required formalities of GSCAAS. Exchange of SAU faculty and

students for short term training programmes and exchange of scientific literature can be

possible after this MoU. At the end souvenirs from both sides were exchanged.

4. MoU between SAU, Tandojam and CAAS, China

The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) is first largest agricultural

academy and third largest academy of China, located in Beijing, P.R China. During

the visit of worthy Vice Chancellor in China, a meeting was conducted on 15th

July,

2015 for the exchange of academic and research activities between SAU, Tandojam

and CAAS, Beijing. The meeting was attended by Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr.

Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon, Prof. Dr. Maqsood Anwar, Dean; Dr. M. Ibrahim Kashkheli,

Prof. Dr. Feng Dongxin briefed about the CAAS and its different institutes located in

18 different provinces including Beijing. Prof. Feng also mentioned that CAAS

always appreciating the cooperation with international organizations. After the visit of

President Xi Jinping to Pakistan, Pak-China Economic Corridor brought several joint

projects in different disciplines including agriculture. Based on this cooperation,

CAAS will be appreciating the bilateral cooperation with SAU, Tandojam, Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon, Vice Chancellor, also introduced SAU briefly,

development and infrastructure of SAU, ongoing activities of SAU with the CAAS

leaders.

The institute of Vegetable and Flowers, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences

(IVF.CAAS) is the well renowned institute of CAAS located in Beijing. All major

vegetables and flowers are the integral part for the research of this institute. SAU

delegates including Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr.

The Institute of Plant Protection of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IPP

research work pertaining to Plant Pathological, Entomological and Plant Protection

fields is focused in this Institute. SAU delegates including Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin

Memon, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Maqsood Anwar Rustamani, Dean FCPT, Dr. M.

Ibrahim Khaskheli, Assistant Professor, Department of Protection and Dr. Niaz
