Cascade Corvette Club P.O. Box 363 Eugene, OR 97440 www.cascadecorvette club.com Hey everyone!!! Im finally back from the warmth (well by now its just damn hot) of the beautiful southwest. Although I do miss the warm days and the beautiful evenings, it is really great to be back home. When I got home the Saturday before the Valley River show I really had my work cut out for me. The Stingray was an absolute dirty mess and it took me nearly two full days to get her cleaned up and show worthy. Im really glad I did too, because every member who drove into the mall Thursday night did an absolutely wonderful job preparing their beautiful Corvette to show off to the people of Eugene-Springfield. Ive never been prouder as CCC president of our members!! I dont know how many photos were taken of our cars but it was certainly in the thousands. Im sure Jim will have some super examples elsewhere in this issue. The board has discussed and critiqued the event and our intent is to make this another semi- annual event, alternating with Corvettes in the Park. I hope we can do this; there were just so many people who were clearly excited to see so many examples of Corvettes and how Americas Sports Car has evolved through the years. Many, many thanks to those of you who did show your car!!! Having started the season”, we certainly have more events to enjoy. Beaver State has invited us to go along with them as they cruise up the Valley to Orchard Heights Winery for another Sunday Brunch trip. Although, as I write this column it looks like we might see a little moisture, we always have the option of driving a steel car. Were not going to allow a little rain to stop us from enjoying the friendship we always enjoy at this event. Orchard Heights puts on a wonderful buffet and if you go away hungry, well, you know whose fault that is!!!! The board is still planning events for this year, so be sure to check out the Upcoming Events page as you look through the newsletter. I wont go into detail about those events but since we met last but I do want to mention a couple. Dennis and Chris Hough have again graciously offered their BIG garage complete with lift, for another Tech Day.Its scheduled for May 10, so if you need to have your oil changed, want to inspect your Corvettes underside, install new mufflers, or just come up and take some time and talk with some of our members who really know Corvettes. Im certainly not including myself in that group, but some of our members have been working with these cars for close to 50 years. OK, they might be old but they still got it!! Corvettes on the Columbia and our car show/casino cruise, put on and led by Joey and Jan Heidrick, are two events that Id especially urge as many members as possible to attend. Both are just super events and just a lot of fun. Those of you who are newer members I know would have a great time meeting new people, seeing a great car show, and just cruising around the great Pacific Northwest. Finally, Im excited to preside at the next general meeting, although Im certainly going to have to go shopping since our interim President, Slick Vic, I mean Vic Wolfe, has promised you that YOU WILL get a birthday present if your birthday fell on the months I was gone. Thanks Vic!!!! We are so fortunate to be able to have a club with really good people who love their Corvettes, love to have a good time, and yes, to do what we do best…………………………………..DRIVE AND EAT!!!! Hey everyone!!! I’m finally back from the warmth (well by now it’s just damn hot) of the beautiful southwest. Although I do miss the warm days and the beautiful evenings, it is really great to be back home. When I got home the Saturday before the Valley River show I really had my work cut out for me. VETTE GAZETTE

Cascade Corvette Club inside

Valley River Center

Our first indoor Corvette Show at Valley River Center in many years was deemed a success!

It will be a while before we know if we gained any new members, but we talked to a LOT of

people about Corvettes!

The four Corvettes in the center of the mall generated an enormous amount of attention and questions. The most frequently asked question -

“how much horsepower does that green one have”? The answer - a lot!

The number of C1’s, C2’s and C3’s at this show was the most we have seen in one place at one

time other than some of the big regional events. Thank you Billy & April, Dennis, Donn &

Sandie, Sondra and Dennis & Lynn for sharing your

classic Corvettes with CCC and the Eugene public.

Thanks again to Gerry & Connie who worked

for months organizing this event. Gerry handled all the negotiations with VRC (no small task), sought volunteers, organized the parking, dealt

with the Fire Marshall’s office and VRC Security.

Thanks to Joe & Jan who lent us their laptop AND drove from Albany every day to volunteer

at the club table. Another huge thanks goes to the 17 owners who gave up the chance to drive their Corvettes on a beautiful weekend. And finally, a big thanks to all the volunteers who

helped with setup, manned the club table, answered questions, promoted the club and

stood guard over the cars.

Great Team Effort !!

One pleasant surprise at the VRC show this past weekend was a visit from Matt Butcher, a former track athlete at U of O and currently the Marketing & Sales Manager for Adam’s Polishes. Matt wanted to remind us about their fabulous auto detailing products and their series of detailing videos. The videos cover the gamut of detailing questions, technique and products. I think the videos are a great source of instruction in the art of auto detailing. If you would like to check out Adam’s videos, go to: http://adamspolishes.com/video

Tech Day It’s not too late, call now for an “appointment”! Dennis Hough is again offering his shop & lift to CCC members who want to change oil & filter, install exhaust, change brake pads, etc. Tuesday, May 10, rain or shine. Call Dennis at 541-344-0095 or email to: [email protected] Two possible up-coming events: Face Rock Festival, Bandon, OR May 7, weather permitting. Held at Face Rock Creamery - hot dogs, burgers, paninis, craft beer & live music. With a side-trip to The Mill Casino? Oregon Paralyzed Veterans of America Show n Shine, August 13. Held at the Home Depot parking lot in Salem. Our own Joe Heidrick is a member of the OPVA and is looking into this event for us. More info to follow.

Looking for a project, parts car or just something to part out? This `74 coupe was abandoned on a Cottage Grove property 12+ years ago and the current owner of the property wants it gone. Best offer, but no title, so that is something to deal with. [email protected] Anyone up for another cruise to the World of Speed Museum this summer? How about Evergreen Museum of Flight in McMinnville? Or…. LeMay, America’s Car Museum has a special exhibit open for another 3 - 4 months. Route 66: Dream of the Mother Road.

The National Corvette Museum has assumed the responsibility of managing public tours of the General Motors Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant. As part of the change, tours are available every 15 minutes beginning at 8:30am CT with the last tour departing at 1:45pm CT. Ticket prices have changed to $10 for adults and $5 for youth age 10-16. A discounted combo ticket can be purchased for the Plant and Museum for only $16 (a savings of $4). Looking for that new Corvette, but the price tag scares you away? Willing to take a chance on a raffle? The National Corvette Museum currently has raffles for a “Build Your Corvette”, coupe or convertible. Tickets are $250, limited to 1000 tickets. Or the second raffle for a 2016 Torch Red Convertible for only $10 per ticket! Buy online at www.corvettemuseum.org/raffle or call 800-538-3883 during normal business hours.

After a 44 year career with GM, VP of Global Design, Ed Welburn has announced his retirement. Thanks from all Corvette enthusiasts.

Happy Birthday!
