Saving Files to Your P-‐Drive
When creating and downloading files, it is important that you save these documents to your P-‐drive. A P-‐drive is your own personal folder that can be accessed on any Wagner College based computer through your Novell account. A benefit of saving documents to your P-‐drive is that if the computer malfunctions and you already saved important files to your P-‐drive, you will always be able to access it on another computer.
Note: It is important to not save documents to the desktop when working in the computer labs because once you restart the computer, the document is removed and disregarded.
Accessing your P-‐Drive There are two methods you can use to access the files from your P-‐drive.
Option 1
On your desktop, select My Computer.
Once in the My Computer folder, you will notice a section labeled Network Drives. Under this section, locate where it says, Firstname_Lastname on 'Wagner_002\Files\Students' (P:). (If you are faculty, it will read \Faculty instead of \Students) This is your P-‐Drive. Once you click into it, you will be able to view the documents in your P-‐drive.
Option 2
On the desktop, you should see an icon labeled Personal Drive (P). This is a shortcut created for you that will take you to your P-‐drive.
Saving Files your P-‐Drive
If you want to save a file to your P-‐drive, such as a Word Document, click the Windows icon in the top left hand corner. From the drop down menu, click Save.
This will bring up a little grey box. Notice the column on the left hand side. In this column you will see options such as My Documents, My Computer, etc. Select My Computer. Once in My Computer, you will see your P-‐drive, which is labeled Firstname_Lastname on 'Wagner_002\Files\Students' (P:). (If you are faculty, it will read \Faculty instead of \Students) Select your P-‐drive. Make sure that you give the file you are saving a name in the File name text box and then click Save.
Moving Files into your P-‐Drive
If you forgot to save a document to your P-‐drive and accidentally saved it to your desktop (or in another place,) you can always move the file into your P-‐drive.
In order to start the process of moving a file to your P-‐drive, you must locate the file on your computer. Click on the desired file and drag it into your Personal Drive (P) located either from the shortcut on your desktop or in My Computer.
