Marching Band – 46th Annual Musictown Grand Day Parade and Somerset Berkley USBANDS Competition at Somerset Berkley Regional High School in Somerset, MA: Congratulations to everyone on a successful day of performances at the 46th Annual Musictown Grand Day! With a few moments to reflect on the day, I first want to say how proud I am of the students and staff of the SBRHS “Blue Raider” Marching Band, Somerset Middle School Marching Band, SBRHS “Electrify” “Amplified” and “Voltage” Show Choirs, SBRHS String Ensemble, SBRHS Jazz Band and SBRHS Chamber Ensemble. You all did such an amazing job representing our organization, school and communities! You are the reason Musictown exists. Your hard work and dedication to a common cause in the name of Music is awe-inspiring and a source of great pride for me as a music director. To me, there is no way for me to compose in words, my thanks and gratitude to the Somerset Friends of Music and all the parents, teachers, school administrators, school committee members, school faculty, school cafeteria workers, school custodians, government organizations and officials, civic organizations, community organizations, sponsors, friends, family and supporters for everything they do on a daily basis, and especially throughout the festival, to support our music students. These types of experiences and life-long memories do not happen without your love, encouragement, support, and volunteerism! From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all the members of our Blue Raider Community!!! We love you and can’t do it without you! Marching Band – Somerset Berkley USBANDS Competition: Congratulations to the "Blue Raider" Marching Band for completing their second straight undefeated USBands regular season of competitions. The band won their sixth consecutive 1st place finish in Division 1A USBands competition on Saturday at their home show earning caption awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Color Guard & Best Percussion for their division with an overall score of 82.900. The band will next travel to compete in the USBands New England Marching Band Championships this Saturday in Stamford, CT as the top seeded band in their division in hopes of winning their 4th consecutive State and Regional Championship. Good luck to the band as they begin their championship push!
SEMMEA Junior and Senior District Auditions: All students that spoke to Mr. Marshall last week are registered. If you neglected to meet the deadline set in last week’s announcements, please inform Mr. Marshall immediately that you are interested in auditioning for Junior or Senior District and would like to be placed on the list. Health Forms for SEMMEA are not needed for auditions and therefore will not be necessary as listed in last week’s announcements. Those auditioning must submit $15 cash or check (per audition…i.e. if you are auditioning for Jazz and Concert Band, you need $30) to "SBRHS" by Friday 10/25/19 in order to complete your registration. You can drop that off to Mr. Marshall at any time prior to the deadline.
Concert Uniforms: All concert uniforms have arrived. We have sorted and organized them and students may pick them up from Mr. Marshall in the band room. Ladies, please remember that the dresses come long and need to be hemmed before wearing them in a concert.
Marching Band – Home Varsity Football Game vs. Wareham High School at SBRHS: Friday, October 25, 2019 – 2:05 pm (After-school) until 1/2 hour after the end of the game. (8th graders arrive ASAP) Game begins at 3:30 p.m., but we will need time beginning at 2:05 p.m. to build props and prep equipment. Parent support can show up beginning at 2:15 p.m. to prep props, bleecher covers and uniforms. WE WILL LOAD THE TRAILER AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE FOOTBALL GAME IN ORDER TO GIVE US THE MOST AMAOUNT OF REST GOING INTO OUR BIG DAY ON SATURDAY!!!
Marching Band – USBands New England States Championships at Stamford High School in Stamford, CT: Saturday, October 26, 2019 USBANDS Event at Stamford High School - 55 Strawberry Hill Avenue - Stamford, CT 06902 Due to the 3 hours of travel (more with traffic) I will look into a coach bus for this event. Marching Band – Trip to Allentown/Lawrence Pre-Trip Meeting: We will have a meeting for all marching band students, staff and parents on MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2019 at 8:30 p.m. following rehearsal in the band room The meeting will be brief and we will go over the:

Marching Band – Rehearsal Schedule Revision: Due to the mosquito imposed curfew, we informed the students that moving forward, Monday and Wednesday rehearsals will start and end an hour earlier. Please let us know if there are difficulties and our band family will come together to help!
Marching Band – “REFLECTIONS” Tour T-Shirts: The T-Shirts are in the mail and on their way to us. We should have them on Monday; Tuesday the latest. They are reduced to $20 each while supplies last. I ordered about 15 in each size so get them while they last; first come first serve. I will post when they arrive. Again, they are not a requirement, just a fun bit of merchandise to have!!!
Mattress Fundraiser: Our Somerset Berkley Regional High School Music Department Mattress Fundraiser is Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the SBRHS Gym. There will be over 25 beds on display for customers to try. The beds are new, brand name, made to order, available in all sizes, and cost less than retail stores. In addition to beds, there will also be luxury pillows, sheets, and even adjustable power bases! Please share this information with family and friends! Check out this cool video to see how it works:

Starting 8/21/2019, that page is notification to all members and parent(s) / guardian(s) of each SBRHS Music Ensemble regarding rehearsals and performance dates.
Rehearsal & Performance Dates are subject to change with at least two-week notice. Please check often throughout the year!
All students must inform their Ensemble Director(s) of an absence of a performance using the proper absence notification process for that ensemble at least two-weeks prior to the performance for that absence to be considered an “Excused Absence”. Unexcused absences have consequences for each ensemble. Absence policies including exceptions and consequences are available in each ensemble’s student handbook or syllabus. This form of communication is necessary for all ensembles to be able to reach their goals.
2019-2020 Student Contact Information Form for All Performing Musicians: UPDATE - THIS IS OVERDUE AND SOME HAVE NOT COMPLETED THIS YET! This form must completed by all music department students and parents by Friday morning, September 6, 2019 by 8:30 a.m. Please go to www.SBRHSMusic.org , find the Google Form titled “SBRHS Music Department 2019-2020 Student Contact Information Form for All Performing Musicians”. Parents/Guardians and Students should fill out the google form together and submit. Band, Chorus, and Orchestra/String Ensemble Handbook Agreements: UPDATE - THIS IS OVERDUE AND SOME HAVE NOT COMPLETED THIS YET! Some students are more than a month overdue on their Handbook Agreements. Participation grading will start to effected.

2020 Spring Musical Announcement: The students are incredibly excited about the selection of our 2020 Spring Musical “Ghost: The Musical”. Auditions will take place on Wednesday, November 13th at 2:15 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center with call backs on Friday, November 15th at 2:15 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center and then rehearsals beginning in January! This is going to be another epic production by the SBRHS Drama Department!
BAND App: This is our main source of sending information home to you! - The SBRHS Music Department uses the BAND app to disseminate all information quicker and more efficiently to you! Documents, calendars, weekly announcements, and up-to-date information will be available in this one application rather than checking weekly emails or paper documents. The BAND App is completely free to use. You can download the BAND App on your iPhone, Android devise, or access it on your computer by going to band.us. We suggest that you set it up on a computer first and then download the app once you have an account established. The names of our BAND groups are listed below. IMPORTANT REMINDERS: 1. Please make arrangements to bring a lunch/snack (healthy food, i.e. fruits, sandwiches and water) before we leave
(or on the bus if you can clean up after yourself!!!) and be aware that you will have time to purchase concessions at this event.
2. Students will be separated into small groups after the performance and assigned a chaperone. They must stay together as a group at all times per the School Administration’s request. Chaperones may combine groups if they so choose, but all students must remain with a chaperone for the duration of the event.
3. USBands only assigns a few extra staff badges for entrance to the field. We will designate those to parents that are helping the band on and off of the field. Depending on the show host, some stamp hands of parent helpers for entrance that ride on the bus. All others may have to pay admission to the event.
