    Recycling Update - AugustWhile not currently available at Anthem you can recyclealuminum cans at the Pinal County Recycling Center on Adamsville Road in Florence or at the Main Street Park indowntown Florence. Used cans are recycled and returnedto a store shel as a new can in as ew as 60 days. A

    consumer could purchase basically the same recycled canrom a retailers shel nearly every 9 weeks or 6 times a year.Today the amount o recycled cans is about 1,665million pounds/year. This recycling o cans saves95% o the energy used to make cans rom virgin ore.For each pound o aluminum recovered, Americanssave the energy resources needed to generateabout 7.5 kilowatt-hours o electricity-enoughenergy saved each year to meet the lighting needso a city the size o Pittsburg, PA or six years!Recycling one can saves enough energy to run a TV orthree hours or the equivalent o 1/2 gallon o gasoline.
