SCCPSS SUMMER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System
208 Bull Street / Savannah, Georgia 31401 / 912.395.1000
March 7, 2019
Dear Parents,
I encourage you to consider summer as a time for continued learning. You are your child’s first teacher and summer is a great time to take your child to the library, visit a museum, or plant a garden. There are so many opportunities for learning all around the beautiful city of Savannah.
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is excited to offer an array of summer learning opportunities again this year. Our focus is on remediation, acceleration, and enrichment with many programs being offered free of charge. Our goal is to offer students a customized learning environment that meets the needs of individual learners.
Research shows that high quality summer learning experiences have been found to reduce summer learning loss as well as increase opportunities for students to experience learning on their individual level for acceleration, remediation, and enrichment. Students attending summer programs have a unique opportunity to enhance their cognitive skills and abilities or focus on their creative or athletic side.
I invite you to take advantage of one of the many SCCPSS summer learning opportunities found in this booklet.
