Shuttle ServiceA free shuttle service is available to transport students, faculty, and staff to key locations throughout the UB campus. The free shuttle service also provides transportation to the Bridgeport Transportation Center (bus/train/ferry). Information on shuttle service hours and locations can be obtained on the University website at http://www.bridgeport.edu/shuttle. Schedules may also be picked up at the Security Department.
Bus ServiceThe University of Bridgeport provides a free bus pass to all full-time students. Passes are available to part-time students at a reduced cost. Transportation is provided by GBTA (Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority) throughout the city and surrounding areas including Connecticut Post Mall in Milford, Trumbull Mall & Hawley Lane Mall.
Personal Alarm Locator All students are provided a Personal Alarm Locator (PAL). This device can be obtained through the security department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The PAL allows an individual to summon help immediately in the case of an emergency within the campus boundaries. The small and easily carried device acts as a beeper, sending signals to the security office computer system when activated. Once activated, the computer screen provides the individual’s personal information, photo ID and the location from where the device was activated. The information is viewed by the dispatcher and is passed on to the patrol officers. Officers immediately respond to the call in search of the individual who activated the device. The University of Bridgeport is one of only two Colleges in the Country to provide this service.
Student Identification CardsThe security department is also responsible for issuing Student ID cards. Student ID cards also provide access to Residence Halls for resident students, meal plans at Marina Dining Hall and functions as a library card at the University Library. These can be obtained Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Proof of registration is required.
Vehicle Registration/Parking PermitStudents and staff must complete a vehicle registration form and obtain parking permits from the security office. A fee is not charged for this service. A sticker serial number is provided which is placed on the passenger side rear window. The parking permit serves to identify your vehicle in the event of an emergency.
Emergency Notification SystemThe Emergency Notification System allows campus leaders and security professionals to send time-sensitive notifications to thousands of recipients in minutes. It is a means to provide emergency information and reassurance to students, faculty, staff, and parents via phone, text and email. You will only receive emergency notifications if you have registered with the system. Information on registering for this service is available at www.bridgeport.edu/ens.
