ABOUT YOUR JUDGESCommittee members who chose the judges don’t show at this show.

RACHEL WRAY My first breed was Afghans which I owned in the 70s. I also lived with Jan and NobbyBeckett of Phinjanji Afghans and enjoyed many happy years gaining experience and knowledge.With my first husband I owned and showed Rottweilers and Lowchens making up a champion inthese. Later with my second husband I returned to hounds and whippets. Our first whippet was topwhippet brood bitch in 2000 and we have bred a Champion bitch, CC and RCC winning dog. I alsohave an interest in gundogs having handled them as well as serving as a committee member on agundog open show society at one time. I am currently a committee member on Midland AfghanHound Club and South Yorkshire Hound Society. Although I am passed to award CCs in Whippets Imaintain a strong interest in many breeds across the groups. I am really looking forward to spendinga lovely day judging some super dogs at Pwllheli & District Canine Society.PETER BARNABY I have owned Welsh Springer Spaniels since 2004 when we rehomed a veteranbitch. In 2009 along came our first show dog and after some success in the show-ring we acquiredour second show dog in 2012. I am currently an active member of the committee for the WelshSpringer Spaniel Club. I have an interest in all the gundog breeds and have attended seminars ortalks on many of them.JACKIE BUCKLEY I have had dogs ever since I can remember but I have always loved whippets. WhenI picked a lovely little fawn parti it was to change everything. I soon became involved in showing andhe did me proud as we were both learning together. Eventually more whippets moved in and I stillenjoy showing. I am on the committee for Northern Counties Whippet Club and have done therequired assessments.ANNE BURNS I have owned Weimaraners for over 30 years and G.S.P. for 18 years. I have beeninvolved with working and showing all our dogs and I am looking forward to my appointment.JEAN BYRNE I first started showing gundogs in 1979 under the ENRYB affix with my Irish Setters. Inow own my main breed of Weimaraners, Pointers and more recently HWV. I award CCs in fourgundog breeds and have judged all gundogs at open show level together with numerous Group andBIS. I actively work my dogs throughout the showing season and have made up two full Championsand numerous Show Champions in Weimaraners. I look forward to judging at Pwllheli & DCS, thefirst time I will have judged in Wales.JOYCE CARR-TOMLINSON I have owned Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for over 40 years and bredthe occasional litter. My first show dog was my parents’ Golden Retriever. I have owned TibetanSpaniels and Affenpinchers and have both breeds in the KC Stud Book. Last year I have qualified afurther 2 Cavaliers into the KC Stud Book. I have judged the breed at Championship Level and inNovember enjoyed judging varieties and Best In Show at a 110 Class open Show.DAVID HINDLE I have had dogs all my life and first get the showing bug in 1988 when with my wifewe began to show Great Danes and we have won a number of CCs and RCCs. I began judging in theearly 1990s and have judged a number of breeds at Open Show level and have judged Great Danesand Tibetan Mastiffs at Championship shows. I am very much looking forward to judging theWorking group.MARGARET HUGHES My main breed is Pekingese, which I have had since 1974 and started showingwith moderate success a couple of years later. I started to judge toy breeds at open show level in1993. In the year 2000 I made up a Pekingese champion who was home bred. I was passed by theKennel Club to award CCs in the breed in 2004 and have judged to BIS in show level at Breed Club,Championship and Open shows.ALISON KENNY MARRIOTT I have owned, bred and exhibited Scottish Terriers for over 35 years. Ihave bred and handled two Scottish Terriers to Scottie of the Year and have bred several champions.I have judged Terrier Groups at Open show level and have always been interested in all terriers.

JAN MCINTYRE I give CC's in Shih Tzu here and abroad and I am on B list for Lhasa Apso & TT's. I'm Chaiman of the Manchu Shih Tzu Society and been involved in dogs since the 70's.KEN WARRINGTON I have been involved with the showing, breeding and judging pedigree dogs since 1971. I award CCs in both Lhasa Apsos and Tibetan Terriers and have bred and owned champions in both Lhasa Apsos and Schipperkies. Had the honour of judging Lhasas at Crufts in 1992 and also judging overseas on several occasions including both speciality and general championship shows.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES

In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the titleof Champion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Wins at Championship shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall becounted as wins at Open Shows. In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members'classes or competing for Members' Specials each partner must at the time of entry be a member of theSociety. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before thedate of closing of postal entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. 27th August 2016. Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering in Variety classes, winsin both Breed and Variety classes must be counted. First prize does not include a Special Prize ofwhatever value. A dog is not eligible for entry in Variety Classes unless also entered and subsequentlyexhibited in a Breed class where such a class is provided for which it is eligible. Exemptions from thisRegulation are:- From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulationswhich stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an AnyVariety Class/Stakes Class have been suspended. (1) A puppy, unless a class for dogs under twelve months of age for which it is eligible is provided for the breed. (2) A dog in Any Variety Veteran Class. (3) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of the appointment of an emergency judge. (4) Exhibits bred by the scheduled breed Judge. If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the following options:- (1) Withdrawal The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20. (2) Transfer a. If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the Show

Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to the Open class for the correct breed colour, sex, weight or height.

b. For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy Class, Puppy Class or Junior Class, which is over age but under twelve calendar months of age, eighteen calendar months of age or twenty-four calendar months of age respectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy Class,Junior Class or Yearling Class respectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling Class to the Open class for the correct breed colour, sex, weight or height.

c. For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

d. If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not be transferred to any other class.

MINOR PUPPY (MP) For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.PUPPY (P) For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.JUNIOR (J) For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.YEARLING (Y) For dogs of six and not exceeding twenty-four calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.GRADUATE (G) For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First Prizes at Championship Shows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whetherrestricted or not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.POST GRADUATE (PG) For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes at

Championship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restrictedor not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.OPEN (O) For all dogs of the breed for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.VETERAN (V) For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.BREEDERS For dogs bred by the exhibitor.ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED For breeds of dog for which no separate breed classes are scheduled.

RULES & REGULATIONS

1. The Show will open at 9.00 a.m.2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to ensure that exhibits are

available for judging when required. 3. Judging will commence at 9.30a.m. for Handling classes and 10.00am for breed judging.4. Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. The Show will close

half an hour after all judging has been completed.5. The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as

authorised by the Show Management.6. Entry Fees: Members First Entry £4.50 per dog, Non-Members First Entry £5.50 per dog. Subsequent

entries with same dog £1 per class. Not for Competition £1 per dog. Handling classes £1 per handlerCatalogues £3.00 with entries (to be claimed by 11.30a.m.) Membership Single £2. Joint £3.00.

Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class beforeexhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to competein the group or best in show competitions are suspended. Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which hascompeted and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same show. A puppy is a dog of sixand not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best ofBreed, Best in Group or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy inBreed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best ofBreed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by anadult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppyin Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and BestPuppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed, Best in Group and Best in Showrespectively.a. Show Judged on the Group System1) Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from puppies which have beenjudged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy.2)Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners provided they are unbeaten by any other puppy. b. Withdrawal from Competition Puppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show maybe withdrawn from all other competition, other than Breed Classes and Best Puppy inBreed, prior to the competition for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show in order to remain unbeaten. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety (AV) Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

c. Proviso For the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch,Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beatendog.

12. Best in Show From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended. The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited at the same Show.a. Shows Judged on the Group System 1) Best of Breed Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only fromthose dogs which have received a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared.2) Best of Group From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.Best of group and subsequent placings must be selected from:- a) The Best of Breed winners in each group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs. b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group or on each day.3) Best in Show From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended. Withdrawal from other Competition Dogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show maybe withdrawn from all other competition other than breed classes and Best of Breed prior to the competition for Best of Group or Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best in Group or Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition.Dogs may be withdrawn from AV Classes when judged before Breed Classes. c. Proviso For the purposesof this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permissionof the Show Management.

14. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable.Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of suchpractice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

15. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations for thePreparation of Dogs for exhibition. The Show will be held under Kennel Club Rules and ShowRegulations.

16. All dogs resident outside the U.K. must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete Numberbefore entry to the show can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Competenumber will be returned to the exhibitor.

17. DOGS IN VEHICLES ON HOT DAYS Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and theKennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling toand whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is ona busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good

idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lotsof water available to drink• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around thedog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always haveplenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight forextended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter anddehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps toensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk byany action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may bereferred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Right to Refuse Entries. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the rightunder Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.

18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded onthe entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

19. No modifications will be made to the schedule except by permission of the General Committee ofthe Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine press wherever possible.

20. The Committee of this show cannot be held responsible for products advertised or sold by standholders at the show, and remind exhibitors that such products may not meet the requirements ofthe Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

21. Parents/Guardians please note, well behaved children are welcome but those in charge of childrenwill be held fully responsible for their actions and any damage caused within the environs of theshow.

22. Owners, handlers, exhibitors or any other person in charge of a dog at a Kennel Club licenced eventmust ensure at all times that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licenced venueincluding its environs, car parks and approaches.

23. Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safety implicationsconcerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offer sufficient protection todogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potential hazard particularly when occupied bylarge breeds, and it has been known for dogs to become distressed and move soft crates along thefloor and also escape. Soft crates should only be used when there is sufficient room available andwhen they can be safely secured.

24. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification and should note thatthe original exhibit/bench number card, as provided by the show society, must not be used for thispurpose.

Dog Fouling F8 (a) Any owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possibleany fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and withinthe environs of that event including the car and caravan parks and approaches. The Society will arrangefor the dispersal of suitable receptacles to assist compliance with regulation F8(a).Attraction of Exhibits F(1) 17fThe attracting of exhibits by any method from outside the ring is prohibited. It is the duty of the judgesteward or show management noticing such attraction to ask that it ceases.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F (B)

1. These regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibitedat any Kennel Club licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee fordisciplinary action under these show regulations and/or for disciplinary action under KennelClub Rule A42.a) a dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these regulations will automatically bedisqualified from exhibition at the show and from any award gained there at.b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited inbreach of these regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fineor as listed under Rule A42

2. (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be presentin the dog’s coat for any purpose at any time during the show. No substance which altersthe natural colour of any external part of the dog may be present on the dog for any purposeat any time during the show.(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dogfor exhibition must not be allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog atthe time of exhibition.

3. No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof maybe performed except (a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) the removal of dew claws of any breed(c) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the KennelClub before neutered dogs are shownNor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee todeceive.

4. The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog ordogs at any show. Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person having executiveauthority who shall have a written directive from the Kennel Club in their possession.Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis.

5. An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner orhandler of a dog competing in the same breed or class. An objection may however, belodged by an official of the show or by anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be theresponsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (as appropriate), tosubstantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the groundsfor an objection made on its behalf.

6. Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be madein writing to the Show Secretary at his/her office before the close of the show and theindividual must produce evidence of identity at the time of lodging the complaint.
