Overview

Cambridge Judge Business School provides a number of scholarships and bursaries to MBA students each year. We have grouped these into the following categories:

Scholarships for:

• sector of work experience

• women only

• academic achievement

• nationality

• CJBS bursaries.

All scholarships and bursaries are awarded before the start of the academic year. No funds can be awarded after the School year has started, and candidates should not make financial plans assuming that they will receive funds after they have started the programme.

The Boustany Foundation MBA Scholarship

The Boustany Foundation MBA Scholarship to the University of Cambridge is granted once every two years for a 12-month programme leading to an MBA. The Boustany Foundation will pay financial aid amounting to £23,000 towards tuition fees. In addition travel & accommodation expenses related to the internship will be covered by the Foundation. It is offered to outstanding and highly meriting candidates of all nationalities; a priority will be given to Lebanese nationals.

Do I qualify for the Boustany Foundation Scholarship?

Recipients must have an excellent academic background and have also enjoyed considerable success in their careers to date. Candidates must fulfil the admission requirements of Cambridge Judge Business School to be eligible for the scholarship; they will need to demonstrate a high intellectual potential, leadership, ambition and a strong sense of ethics.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme in order to be considered for this scholarship.

Application deadline: 15 May 2018 for entry in September 2018.

Candidates in receipt of an offer of admissions from the Cambridge MBA should please apply directly to the Boustany Foundation.

Further details

The scholarship recipient is required to complete a summer internship at the end of the programme, carrying no salary, with the Boustany Foundation.

St Catharine’s Benavitch Scholarship

Thanks to a generous bequest from the late Maurice and Natalie Benavitch, St Catharine's offers up to five scholarships worth £10,000 to outstanding Cambridge MBA candidates. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and are intended for candidates who will become leaders in the practice or study of management and business.

Recipients of the Benavitch Scholarships will become members of St Catharine's College, which was founded in 1473 and is situated in the centre of Cambridge, approximately five minutes' walk from Cambridge Judge Business School. They will become members of the College's Middle Combination Room, which is the society for graduate students of the College.

Do I qualify for a St Catharine’s Benavitch Scholarship?

First class degree, GPA above 3.7 (out of 4) or equivalent from a recognised university

Minimum GMAT score of 700

Three years' full-time post-graduation work experience

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 27 February 2018, and specified St Catharine’s as their top college preference. You will need to be a member of St Catharine’s in order to be considered for this scholarship.

The Maissa Karim Scholarship

The Maissa Karim Scholarship is an annual award worth £10,000 offered by the family of the late Maissa Karim, member of MBA 2005, in her memory.

The aim of the Maissa Karim Scholarship is to support exceptional scholars for whom the MBA would not be a possible undertaking without some form of financial support.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

The Sainsbury Bursary Scheme

The Sainsbury Bursary Scheme provides Cambridge MBA bursaries for students from the charitable or voluntary sectors who need financial aid to help fund their MBAs. There are up to five awards each year, worth either £14,000 or £28,000 towards the cost of the MBA fees.

Do I qualify for a Sainsbury Bursary?

We are looking for intelligent and highly motivated candidates committed to a career within the charitable or voluntary sectors. Preference will be given to UK citizens currently working in the UK, but exceptional non-UK candidates working for international organisations will be considered. In all cases it is expected that successful recipients will continue to contribute to the charitable or voluntary sectors in the UK after completion of the MBA. All candidates for the bursaries must have:

• At least three years' work experience within the charitable or voluntary sectors prior to submitting their application.

• Strong support from their employer, or evidence of an on-going commitment to the charitable or voluntary sectors.

• A clear idea of how they would use the skills and knowledge gained on the MBA programme to develop their career within the charitable or voluntary sectors.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

If you want to be considered for the Sainsbury Bursary, you must apply to the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

The Culture, Arts and Media Bursary

This bursary is for professionals working in the culture, arts or media industries. It awards £10,000 towards the cost of the Cambridge MBA fees.

Do I qualify for a Culture, Arts and Media Bursary?

You need to have a deep understanding of the changes in the industry. This may have been gained as a journalist, a performer, a producer, a creative writer, or through working in the financial side or any other area of the media.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

Applying

If you want to be considered for the Culture, Arts and Media Bursary, you must apply to the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

Following the interview, if an offer is made to you, please submit a one-page essay to the MBA Admissions Team explaining why you think you should be considered for a Culture, Arts and Media Bursary (see eligibility criteria above).

The recipient of this scholarship is also expected to give a talk on the media to the MBA class.

The LyondellBasell Scholarship

The LyondellBasell scholarship offers up to £33,000 to one or two candidates per intake. The scholarship is open to anyone with a process engineering background, including candidates who have worked in pharma, and oil and gas.

Do I qualify for the LyondellBasell scholarship?

You will have a process engineering background, a high GMAT score, and have attended a top university.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

If you want to be considered for the LyondellBasell scholarship, you must apply to the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

The Military Personnel Scholarship

If you are currently in military service or have just left, and want to do a Cambridge MBA, you may be able to get financial assistance from a Military Personnel Scholarship.

Do I qualify for a Military Personnel Scholarship?

Preference will be for people who are either in service, or just leaving service. You should be able to display examples of your strong leadership ability.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

Applying

If you want to be considered for the Military Personnel Scholarship, you must apply to the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

Any candidate who is offered a place on the Cambridge MBA by 4 May 2018, coming from a military background will automatically be considered for this scholarship, so no action needs to be taken on your part.

The recipient of this scholarship is also expected to give a talk on his or her leadership experiences in the military to the MBA class.

In addition to the Scholarship, Cambridge Judge continues to be a GMAC military-friendly school and candidates from the military are eligible for an application fee waiver. If you intend to make use of this waiver, please contact the MBA Admissions staff before you submit your application.

The Monish Suri Private Equity Bursary

This bursary offers £10,000 to individuals working in private equity prior to the MBA.

"My intention is that with this bursary recipients will have the opportunity to learn about how private equity works both in theory and practice, and to develop into the next generation of leaders of this challenging and incredibly exciting industry."

Monish Suri, Prime Ventures

The successful recipient will also be mentored by Monish Suri as part of this award. Monish is a Partner at Prime Ventures, which he joined in 2001. He brings over 25 years of international experience in sales, management and venture capital to Prime.

Do I qualify for the Monish Suri Private Equity Bursary?

This bursary is open to individuals currently working in private equity. Factors we will consider in awarding the bursary will be GMAT score and undergraduate academic performance.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

The Ruth Whaley Bursary for Women in Finance

This bursary offers £10,000 to one female candidate per intake and aims to encourage more women with a finance background to undertake an MBA, with the hope that more women will take up senior finance positions in future.

“I'm delighted to support female finance candidates in the Cambridge MBA programme. The degree provides many opportunities, opening not only new perspectives on what is possible, but also the tools to get there. I look forward to helping our bursary recipients develop into future leaders in finance. ”

Ruth Whaley, Barset Consulting LLC

The successful recipient will also be mentored by Ruth Whaley as part of this award. Ruth is the founder and Principal at Barset Consulting LLC, a Risk Management Consulting firm in New York: she is a senior finance executive with more than 25 years' experience in global fixed income and risk management at the executive and board level.

Do I qualify for the Ruth Whaley Bursary for Women in Finance?

This bursary is open to women currently working in finance who have a high GMAT score and have attended a top university.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

Following the interview, if an offer is made to you, please submit a one-page essay to the MBA Admissions Team on how a particular sector in the financial services industry (e.g. investment banks, retail banks, etc.) can rebuild public trust in the sector. Candidates are free to choose the sector within the financial services industry to focus on.

The Healthcare Scholarship

This bursary is for professionals working in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industries. It awards £10,000 towards the cost of the Cambridge MBA fees.

Do I qualify for the Healthcare Scholarship?

This scholarship is open for individuals with a background in the healthcare/pharma sector.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

Applying

If you want to be considered for the Healthcare Scholarship, you must apply to the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018. Factors we will consider in awarding the bursary will be GMAT score and undergraduate academic performance.

The Technology and Innovation Scholarship

This bursary is for professionals working in the technology sectors, culture, arts or media industries. It awards £10,000 towards the cost of the Cambridge MBA fees.

Candidates with a background in technology and innovation can benefit from this scholarship with £10,000 towards their Cambridge MBA fees.

Do I qualify for the Technology and Innovation Scholarship?

You will have a gained experience working within a technology firm, as an engineer/developer or within a corporate role.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

If you would like to be considered for the Technology and Innovation Scholarship, you must apply to the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018. Factors we will consider in awarding the bursary will be GMAT score and undergraduate academic performance.

The Family Business Management Scholarship

This scholarship of £10,000 is available for individuals coming from a senior role within their family business, with plans to then return to their family business after the MBA.

Do I qualify for the Family Business Management Scholarship?

You will have a gained experience working within a senior position within your family business with the aim to return to the same business after the MBA Programme.

Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme by 4 May 2018.

The Forté Foundation Fellowships

Cambridge Judge Business is a proud partner with the Forté Foundation, a non-profit organisation that champions women’s progression within business through access to education. We are pleased to offer Forté Fellowships to outstanding female students joining the Cambridge MBA. Two awards of £20,000 each will be awarded.

Forté Fellows also have access to the following resources:

• Participation in the annual Forté MBA Women’s Leadership Conference held in June in the United States

• Access to exclusive networking groups of Forté Fellows, Forté Fellow Alumnae and sponsor companies on social media and through Forté Fellow listservs

• Special e-introductions to Forté sponsor companies and inclusion in the Fellow résumé book, which is distributed to all sponsor companies

• Free lifetime Forté Foundation Premium Membership • Women students can also apply for a stipend to attend the annual Forté MBA Women’s

Leadership Conference, organised by the Forté Foundation. The conference is a great opportunity to meet like-minded women, develop leadership skills and build your professional network.

Eligibility

The Fellowships are open to all women applying to the MBA programme.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership skills through academic achievement, or in roles as team or community leaders, and show a commitment to helping women achieve their career potential through personal mentoring or community involvement.

The scholarships will be awarded to applicants based on the following criteria:

• A demonstrable track record of leadership in your field • Commitment to Forté’s mission of launching women into fulfilling, significant careers through

access to business education, opportunities, and a community of successful women • Candidates need to have accepted an offer of admission from the Cambridge MBA programme

by 4 May 2018.
