SCHOOL CALENDAR
Jugiong Public School
Explore. Discover. Learn Dear All,
Welcome to the last week of this
term. This is the last newsletter for the term and there will be no newsletter for the first week back,
due to Anzac Day. Our next news-letter will be on Wednesday 2nd May.
Thank you to Mrs Weston and Mrs Lenehan for organising the
“Enrichment Day” tomorrow. The students will have a full day of healthy, physical activity. There
will be yoga, aerobics, tabloid games, skipping and in the end, an Easter Egg hunt (not completely
healthy-but chocoholics will argue that chocolate is good for you). I must also thank Steph Hyles for
volunteering her expert services.
For lunch on Thursday students
are going to make their own “healthy wraps”. Thanks Steph and Jenny Polimeni for organising the
fillings and wraps.
I am looking forward to the Jugiong Disco on Thursday night
and the Year 6 Disco shop. It sounds like a fun night. Thank you
to all those parents who are super-vising.
Already there are a number of ac-
tivities organised for next term. From Week 5 to Week 9 we are having Zumba here at the school,
Bongongo Public School will be joining us every Friday for those
weeks.
A professional instructor will be coming to run the program for the
five weeks.
In Week 4 the national testing program for all Year 3 and Year 5
students is taking place, this pro-gram has the name NAPLAN. All students in those years take part
in the test.
There will also be numerous ath-
letic style events (cross countries and athletics carnivals). These events will include either the
whole school or the “elite ath-letes”.
I hope everybody has a happy and safe Easter break. Please be careful on the roads and students
be sensible in their play activities.
Regards
Russell

Did You Know?
The Spanish explorer Cortes discovered the Aztecs drink-ing chocolate in Central America in 1519. It was rather bitter so the Spanish added sugar. The Spanish kept its preparation as a se-cret from other countries for over 100 years.
King Henri Christophe (1767-1820) of Haiti had himself anointed with chocolate syrup at his coronation, as a symbol of the importance of coca to the economy.

POLOCROSSE NEWS
Over the last month, Jugiong has had players
attend both Yass and Lake George carnivals. Hayley
Crommelin and Ricky Mitchell played with Yass at Yass carnival, and were in the winning A grade side. Ricky received Best Male player of the carnival. Jugiong
fielded an A grade side for Lake George’s carnival, winning the
final very convincingly against Al-bury 15-4. Only a few weeks left and our state players, Will, San-dra, Todd, Hayley, Pat and Ben will head off to the Nationals in
Warwick, QLD. Kelvin has also got himself a run with the subbies in
demonstration games at this year’s Sydney show, so Go Kel-
vin! For those of you sitting on the sidelines, there is still plenty of
time to sign up and get your horses into shape! Our first local
carnival will be Wagga on the 12th of may. And keep your ears open for our 50th anniversary dinner
later this year!
Happiness is a good book and a spot in the sun.
