Message from the Principal
Responsibility Day Responsibility day has been at Montrose for over twen-ty years And Has become a tradition at this school. each year the children have shown more and more re-sponsibility which has kept it running. Responsibly day has been an exciting day that all year 6 students look forward to and this year its the class of 2019’s turn to run the school. The teachers of Montrose have decided to run this day as a way of congratulating their hard work and growth all year round. By teaching grades and specialist it helps them gain more confidence, independence and cooperation with their team which will help them with their transition to high school. Students for many years have come together in teams to become a teacher for the day. But before that they have to work hard for many sessions to put together five lessons to teach the children in their grade along this journey the actual teachers them to guide them to understand how the class functions. On responsibility day students will teach one of the classes in the school excluding Chinese and grade five and 6. The classes they are teaching are prep grade 1,2,3,4 as well as art, music and sport. They can also be principle for the day. Children visited there teacher multiple times so they knew exactly what they are do-ing on the day. We have had such an amazing time doing responsibly day and we have learnt so many values that we will keep forever.

Message from the Principal—continued from page 1:
Congratulations Colin on 20 years of service
Colin has brought a smile to every
Montrose student and parent that have
walked across his crossing. Colin has
been a crossing person for over 20 years
he has had many confrontations some
of his have been people running across
the road and him having to save them.
Colin loves his job as he is always sur-
rounded by nice people.
Before we knew Colin he worked as an
engineer for Channel Nine, he loved his
years there but was happy to retire af-
ter watching and implementing many
changes in television over his time.
Collin decided to start his next career
as a crossing man to keep his days busy
and social and to avoid sitting around.
His wife agreed that he is happiest
when he has something to do, so Collin
began his training for his future job.
We are so grateful to Colin for being
our lovely crossing person, he has a
kind face and ready smile and our
school appreciates all that Collin does.
Thank you,
Charlotte Edwards, Sharmika Murphy,
Jacob Dissanayake & Jack Colvin.
Principals for the day.

Alexis S 6G
This year six student has shown so much growth during this year. She has broadened her
friendship circle, while at the same time nurturing the friendships she already had. Her be-
lief in herself and what she is capable of has grown, and as a result she has made progress
academically and socially. She is not afraid to speak her mind (even though her teacher
sometimes wishes she kept some observations to herself!) She has made a point of not
getting involved in any of the negative issues that girls in grade 6 sometimes face. While it
is sad to see her go off to high school, I know that she is set to make great choices to ensure
a future full of success. Thanks for sharing your amazing personality with us all, Alexis.
Jake W 4JT
This student shows confidence but never boasts, they show courage but never go too far.
They show enthusiasm but they never step on anyone else’s toes.
This student from Grade 4 deserves to be recognised for all his efforts and the way he helps his mates without hesitation.
He encourages others even when he sometimes needs help too!
He went first in his Poetry Recital and should be so proud of all that he has achieved this year.
Congratulations.
Memphis S-D 3RH
Confidence makes you do things you didn't think was possible. Only with confidence can you fly like superman, run as fast as Usain
Bolt and construct a house better than Bob the Builder. Unfortunately for this person in 3H, though he bristles with confidence, he
can't fly like superman, run as fast as Usain Bolt or build a house better than Bob the Builder. He can, however, write better than he
has ever written before, read longer and harder books than he was able to, spell hundreds of new words he never knew he
could, and do maths in his head faster than he can type it into a calculator. All of this he can do, thanks to confidence.
Emme M 5ST
This student has grown immensely in her confidence this year and has demonstrated a focused and committed work ethic. At the
start of the year she resisted taking risks in the classroom. Now, she welcomes them with an attitude solely focus on improving her-
self as a person and as a learner. She’s not afraid to be herself and include her classmates in activities, often helping others out when
they are unsure of what do to.
5T’s queen of confidence is Emme Mcintosh.
Jeffery W 2VP
What a wonderful journey this 2VP student has had over the year. When he started in Term 1 he was incredibly shy and quiet, pre-
ferring to stay in the background. Over the last 3 terms he has found his voice, his confidence and most importantly the belief in him-
self. This champion now embraces every part of his school day and is ready and willing to tackle challenges when they are presented
to him. We have come to see his wonderful sense of humour and the fabulous work ethic he has. Jeffrey, you brighten our classroom
with your huge warm smile and enthusiastic approach to all that you do. We love all the wonderful ideas you have and the
knowledge you share with us. We’re so proud of you! Congratulations Jeffrey!

What is it?
Tolerance is when you accept others who are different in their race, culture, habits, and
even beliefs.
When you accepted and played with your friends, you were showing tolerance and
realising that you wanted to be respected, have your ideas heard, and receive fair
treatment from them, just as they wanted the same from you.
