Message from the Principal
Hi Everyone
2018 Preparations are all around us
1:It is great to see the new preps for 2018 enjoying their
Transition sessions. At present, the Specialists are having
fun introducing the children to the wonderful programs they
provide, whilst the prep team are observing the participants
and how they cope in the various settings.
2: I have been informed that we will be receiving a new
relocatable that will house two classrooms shortly. The
Department of Education and Training apply a formula which
is basically one room for every twenty-five students at the
school. I am planning on structuring 25 classes in 2018. It is
planned that the new building will be ready to receive
students before the end of the school year.
3: I anticipate that by next week I will publish our class
structure for 2018. This information is handy when parents
will be invited to provide information that will be taken into
account when preparing classes. This usually occurs in the
newsletter released in Cup Week.
‘See the First Aid Teacher’
Next Monday I am anticipating that many classes will be
reduced in size. Mrs Johnson and the fantastic first aiders will
be updating their training on the day.
Grade 4 Camp
The grade 4 team will be holding a parent information
session on Thursday Nov 2 at 3.45pm. This is the opportunity
to answer final questions regarding what to bring etc.
Why Excursion Notes have Deadlines
When pondering the school calendar on Sentral it is apparent
that some weeks are busier than others. A lot goes into the
organisation of events and developing the costings, filing
permission and emergency contact details and all of this
information passes from class teacher, to the office and back
again. For this reason, we include a deadline on each activity
form. We will not accept permission forms on the day. If
payment is causing hardship and slowing down the return of
permission forms, contact Sue in the office and have a chat
with her.

Sentral Parent Portal is live!!
Access Keys for the new Sentral Parent Portal have begun to be distributed. First Tip: It is vital when you register your key that you click on the “Portal 2” button. If you try and register your key on the initial screen (Portal 1) you will receive an error message.
If you have any problems please call the office on 9728 2203 or email –
[email protected] Second Tip: DO NOT download the app first. I recommend setting up the portal using the option “Register key without app access”. Later, if you wish to download and set up the app, you can do so and link your account. However setting up the app first is causing some issues so I highly recommend getting the portal up and going without the App for now!
More functionality will be added to the Parent Portal in the future, including Semester 2 Reports, 2018 Parent Teacher Interviews, and more. Go and explore and please let us know if you have any feedback.
Excursion Permissions – Return Dates Please take note of the return date for all excursions. We will not be able to process payments after the due date which is written on each Excursion Notice.
REMINDER: Tuesday 6th November is a public holiday!

It is always a thriving metropolis in and around the canteen on Wednesdays and Fridays. Requests for tissues, scotty towel, pens, brooms etc. ….you never know who is going to pop their head around the door. With cooler weather, Wednesday was a little quieter than last week. Jelly cups were extremely popular, selling out very quickly. Friday was a different story as lunch orders were a plenty. Sushi was extremely popular after a mention in last week’s newsletter and we made lots and lots of chicken & salad wraps. Friday was World Teachers’ Day and to celebrate we baked and delivered a muffin to each of our teachers as a little way of saying ‘thanks for everything you do’. This week we introduced our new Smilie Face Cookie which is baked locally and Gluten Free. They have cute little faces and taste delicious! Canteen Volunteer Thank you A BIG thank you to Elle Marcombe and Claire Seymour for helping in the canteen on Wednesday and to Megan Salen, Loran Phibbs, Carly Vanderkolk and Chloe Cairney for their help on Friday. What can I buy? Smilie Face cookies are now available for lunch orders and to purchase over the counter for $2 each. Amanda

What is it?
You are a unique being. Nobody has been born who is exactly like you or who has your special
combination of talents and gifts.
Creativity is the way you use your gifts to bring new things into being. It is making new music,
art, having new ideas, creating inventions, dance, solving problems in new ways; it is a
process of discovery.
Creativity is sharing your gifts and talents with others.
Every time you come to the library, you will see our Library Lion.
He’s a happy chappie who sits on top of the picture book shelves and
loves to see kids & stories coming together in the school library.
