FOXTON BIBLE CAMP was established in 1961 but is continually being upgraded, and has proved an ideal location for weekend camps and school outdoor education. The grounds have been developed to enable camps to be contained on-site, but the local area abounds with opportunities for ed-ucation and recreation.

The ocean beach is less than a half hour walk from Camp and the river estuary only minutes away. The Manawatu River Estuary is one of the most important estuarine ecosys-tems in New Zealand - it draws visi-tors keen to see the 2000 birds and up to 58 species known to flock there over the northern winter. The estuary is a stopover for many rare and migratory birds. It is also one of the best places to watch the unique Wrybill and the magnificent Royal Spoonbill.

Foxton township is being de-veloped as an historical town and offers horse-drawn tram and trolley bus rides, Dutch windmill and museum, flax museum, and an Audiovisual Museum. Foxton Beach

School is the site of an astronomical observatory.

Information on local items of interest is available from the Information Centre (Ph: 06- 363 5601).
