Education Week Celebrations!This week we celebrate education! At Corowa Public School, we strongly believe in creating opportunities, giving everyone a go, developing dreams and providing hope. We may not get it right all of the time, but I think we have this week. Thank you for being in the audience to share our wonderful school concert! We are incredibly proud of the achievements and talent of our students and staff. To see the smiles on your children’s faces when they saw you in the audience was what education is about – family!
CPS Open DayOn Monday, we invite you into our classrooms so we can share our learning with you before our picnic and assembly. The children and staff are looking forward to your visit.
Star Gazing CancelledSadly we had to cancel our stargazing night. The Albury-Wodonga Astronomical Society found it difficult to staff the event with enough volunteers with appropriate paperwork. We do apologise for any inconvenience as we tried very hard to ensure the event went ahead. Hopefully it can go ahead at another time.
Casual Clothes Day - Friday 10 AugustTomorrow we raise money for a very worthy cause – Motor Neuron Disease (MND). Children are encouraged to wear mufti clothes and bring a gold coin donation for the MND foundation. Full school uniform is expected for students who do not bring a donation. Thank you for your support in this venture.

Soaking Up Knowledge and Sunshine!Year 3-4 students were soaking up the sunshine earlier in the week as they learned about man-
made outdoor environments including play equipment and sporting areas!
Flying Foxes Know How to Relax!Flying Fox students enjoyed a yoga and meditation session after lunch on Tuesday! Students stretched and relaxed their bodies and rested their minds in preparation for learning.
Bilby Race in WritingMiss Huggett's Bilby students raced against the clock on Tuesday in timed literacy activities! Activities included using set words in sentences and finding antonyms for words before their
time ran out.

Maths Made Fun!Quokka students were losing limbs in a maths game on Tuesday! Students competed against their friends to be the last one standing - losing a limb each time their competitor answered
a maths question correctly.
Communicating around our School By Ava, Regan, Ruby & IsabelleCommunication means giving someone a message. Messages can be spoken, non-verbal (no words) or even pictures and signs.
At our school we communicate in a lot of different ways, here are some examples:
• We talk to our teachers, classmates and friends.
• There is an intercom in all the classrooms. Sometimes it makes a noise and then we know that Mrs Munro or Mrs McGrath in the office have something they need to tell us. It is only used for very important messages like letting kids know they are going on the bus or their lunch that they accidentally left at home has been delivered. Sometimes, we are a little bit noisy doing group work and don’t hear the message – and we have to get it repeated. The intercom is also used if there is a lock down or a lock out so we know how to keep ourselves safe.
• Some teachers use Class Dojo. This helps communicate with our parents about how awesome we have been. Our teachers can also send home photos on our class story so our parents can see what we have been up to.
• The school newsletter tells our parents what is happening and what is going to happen.
• Our school has lots of social media pages like Facebook to show off pictures and send information to our community.
