A VICTORIAN FORMER SCHOOL MASTERS HOUSE IN A VILLAGE LOCATION, SET AMIDST BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDEMaster bedroom with en suite shower room and walk-in closet w 3 further bedrooms w family bathroom w sitting room w dining room w kitchen/breakfast room w hall w utility room w ground floor cloakroom w outbuilding w stunning views over the Roding Valley w In all about 0.55 acres w EPC rating = D A414 3 miles, Ongar 5.2 miles, Chelmsford 9.9 miles(Liverpool Street from 34 minutes), Shenfield 11.2 miles(Liverpool Street from 23 minutes), Brentwood 12.1 miles,M25 (Junction 28) 13.2 miles, M11 (Junction 7) 10 miles,Stansted Airport 13.4 miles, Central London 41 miles.

The School House lies in the village of Willingale, which is just 7 miles west of Chelmsford. The twin parishes of Willingale Doe and Willingale Spain derive their distinctive names from their owners soon after the Conquest, William d’Ou and Hervey de Spain respectively, and their two churches face one another in the same churchyard at the heart of the village, St. Andrews and St. Christophers.

Willingale also has a village hall and cricket club which are both integral parts of the community. Additional amenities, shops and public and state schools can be found in Chipping Ongar, Brentwood and Chelmsford. Rail commuters can choose to travel from either Chelmsford or Brentwood stations, which are both on the mainline into London Liverpool Street, or from Epping, which is on the Central Line. Junction 7 of the M11 (which interconnects with the M25 at Junction 28) is within 14 miles of the house for those who prefer to travel by car.

The School House would have been built to house the master of the neighbouring former school (built circa 1863) and like the school it was built in the Victorian Gothic style so popular at that time. The current owners have recently completed a substantial two storey extension which mirrors the original façade beautifully and as a result the principal elevation of soft-red brick with pointed arch windows has two symmetrical gable ends either side of a central timber framed porch.

The high standard of the refurbishment inside and out means that although the house is approximately 150 years old it has many of the advantages of a modern house such as a bespoke kitchen with Bosch appliances, granite work surfaces and soft-close doors, underfloor heating, Lutron lighting, bi-fold doors, Duravit bathrooms, hard wood replacement double glazed windows and doors and CCTV.

The accommodation is family friendly, with a largely open-plan ground floor incorporating a large kitchen/breakfast room, dining room, sitting room and a study/playroom together with a separate utility room and ground floor cloakroom.

The first floor has four bedrooms, including the master suite which has a high-specification en suite shower room, walk-in closet and stunning views from an oriel bay towards Essex Way over the Roding Valley, and the other bedrooms are served by a family bathroom.

The house sits on a plot of approximately 0.55 acres which has been divided into two areas. An extensive gravel drive to the front continues through gates into the rear garden, where a large deck extends out from the sitting room’s bi-fold doors, providing an excellent spot to enjoy the views over the neighbouring fields and undulating countryside to the north. Beyond the deck the garden is predominantly laid to lawn with a substantial oak tree and a laurel and hawthorn hedge runs along the boundary. Also included is an attractive black weatherboard outbuilding with power & lighting.

Directions(From Chelmsford) Take the A1060 west towards Roxwell. After approximately a mile, at the Hare Public House, turn left onto Vicarage Road. Continue through Roxwell village and along Skreens Park Road and after approximately 3 miles turn left onto Beech Road signposted to Willingale. Once in the village, School House will be found on the right hand side.
