Our winter is well upon us. As such our winter uniform is expected to be worn. For the boys polo tops, school jumpers and navy pants are the general trend with some boys wearing long cargo shorts as well. For our girls they have the same option however for our girls who like to wear a dress they can wear a navy tunic, navy or red stockings and skivvies. Some girls also wear skorts ( a combination or skirt and shorts!) or navy skirts. The summer dresses are our summer uniform and are not to be worn over the winter. Some of our younger girls are currently wearing their dresses over the winter clothes and as this is not part of our winter uniform we would be hoping to see this change. Navy tunics are readily available in Lowes and Crockers. Coats and zip up jackets are outside wear and should not be worn in place of a school jumper. If there are financial concerns regarding uniforms please let us know as we have some second hand clothes available. We have a uniform policy and need your assistance to ensure that students abide by it. Please help!
Home Reading is an integral part of
home and school life. To assist
with the home reading it does take
more than listening while you
undertake the many demands of
afterschool life. There are often
some tricky words to unravel but it
is also important to discuss what is
happening, a book chat. Book
discussions make the reading real.
They develop strategies like
summarising, predicting and
visualising. All this and more is the
key to unlocking the mystery of
literacy. Questions about what
type of book it is, what is the main
idea, who is the central character
are all important probing
questions that we also engage in at
school. When looking through a
picture story book it is also
important to discuss the
illustrator’s purpose and how it
helps the development of the
story. Sharing the take home book
can be a great opportunity to chat
with your child however timing
may be the critical issue. It is hard
to fit it in between swimming
lessons, folding the washing,
vacuuming up the sand that is all
over the floor from the tipped out
shoes or the fight with the dog
who has decided to unpack the
bin. A crowded time but the home
reading is very important and does
greatly contribute to learning and
discovery.
Head Lice There have been some cases of Head lice at the school. It is important to check your child / children's hair regularly. Instructions for lice treatment must be strictly followed and treatment should be followed up to ensure the removal of eggs hatching. Long hair must be tied back at all times while at school

Josh and Rebecca have worked in consultation with the teachers to select music and have just commenced rehearsal. Sam Griffin, from Soul Studio in Ballarat, will be choreographing the two 5/6 classes and 3/ 4D. Tricia Ryan is in charge of wardrobe and most costumes have been designed and created by Tricia. A costume and information note will be sent home from each class early next term outlining any additional clothing e.g. blue jeans for boys, suitable footwear, as well as the suggested hair styles of the times.

Classroom Libraries
We are seeking donations of books for our classroom libraries. We would like parents to look on bookshelves at home
for good quality books that their children have moved on from, but are too good to throw away. Picture story books,
paper backs, fiction, nonfiction ,suitable for students in years Prep-6. Older siblings in the family may longer be reading
the books they once loved and these can now be enjoyed by the next generation of book lovers! All donations can be
left in the box in the ELC or on the table outside Ms Carrigan’s office.
