The Examining Board appointed by the Council of the School is made up of at least three permanent or substitute members, chosen among the teachers or researchers of the Degree programme. The board will ensure the fairness of the procedure.

Page 9: SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS MANAGEMENT AND …corsi.unibo.it/1cycle/Management/Documents/Call for application...1 SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS MANAGEMENT AND STATISTICS FORLÌ CAMPUS Call for Applications

9

The evaluating procedure that regulates the admission to the curriculum “Management” will be carried out in TWO main phases: the FIRST evaluation phase is different from quota to quota, while the SECOND PHASE (oral interview in English) is the same for all candidates. 4.1 PHASE 1 (min 400 – max 1600 points)

4.1.1 Italian candidates, EU candidates, non-EU candidates with equivalent status QUOTA (first, possible sec-ond and third selection sessions)

Candidates pertaining to this quota will be evaluated on the basis of the TOLC-E or SAT-General test scores obtained (refer to para. 2 for further information). The Evaluating Board will draw up a single ranking list for Phase 1 ranking (min 400 – max 1600 points) on the basis of the results obtained by candidates in the chosen test converted through the table attached to this Call (Attachment n.1). Candidates during the online application procedure will be asked to indicate which test (TOLC-E or SAT) they wish to participate with. If candidates have taken both tests, they must indicate with which they would like to compete. If a candidate has taken the same test more than once, according to the deadlines indicated in this Call, the best score obtained will be evaluated and he/she has to upload the relevant score report. In particular, as far as the SAT scores are concerned, candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the score reported in the Official score report that must be delivered by the College Board to the University of Bologna (under students request). Candidates who took the SAT-General test up until February 2016 hold a so-called ‘pre-2016-SAT’ test (with a score on up to 2400 points), while candidates who took the SAT-General test from March 2016 on, are considered to hold the ‘New-SAT’ (on up to 1600 points). For this reason, the equivalence between the ‘pre-2016’ and the New-SAT scores will be carried out on the basis of the concordance table attached to this Call that has been formulated according to the indications and conversion tables released by the College Board (https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/scores/understanding-scores/sat-score-converter)

The Examining Board is also in charge of assessing candidates’ ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:

Candidates participating in the competition with their TOLC-E are required to take the compulsory English language section of the TOLC-E test and to obtain a minimum score of 17/30 in the English language proficiency section (corresponding to an A2 level) if they do not hold any valid certificate attesting a B1 or above level of language proficiency among those listed at the following page: http://www.cla.un-ibo.it/risorse/files/tabella-equipollenza-titoli issued not prior to 01/01/2015. The score obtained in this section does not give additional points, but it is useful to verify linguistic com-petence. Only candidates who obtain the minimum score required in the English section are admitted to the second phase of the selection (Interview in English).

For candidates who hold a valid certificate attesting their B1 or above level of language proficiency among those listed at the page: http://www.cla.unibo.it/risorse/files/tabella-equipollenza-titoli and issued not prior to 01/01/2015 (regardless the official validity set by the relevant Certification Body) the linguistic requirement is considered met, regardless of any eventual score obtained in this specific section.

Candidates participating in the competition with their SAT-General test score can upload (if any) a valid certificate attesting a B1 or above level of language proficiency among those listed at the following page: http://www.cla.unibo.it/risorse/files/tabella-equipollenza-titoli issued not prior to 01/01/2015 to meet the language proficiency requirements. Candidates participating with their SAT score who do not hold any valid English language certification can be admitted to the second phase anyway: the evaluating board will assess their linguistic competence (of at least B1 level) during the interview.

The Examining Board will assign up to 1600 points according to the marks obtained by candidates in Maths and History. Candidates can also provide a valid certificate attesting a B1 or above level of language proficiency among those listed at the following page: http://www.cla.unibo.it/risorse/files/tabella-equipollenza-titoli, issued no prior to 01/01/2015 (regardless the official validity set by the relevant Certification Body). For these candidates the linguistic entry require-ment is considered met. Candidates who do not hold any valid language certificate according to the above-mentioned conditions can be admitted to the second phase anyway: the evaluating board will assess their linguistic competence (at least B1 level) during the interview.

4.2 PHASE 2: INTERVIEW IN ENGLISH (min 400 – max 1600 points)

At the end of phase 1, a shortlist will be drawn for each quota on a 1600 scale. In duly justified cases, the Examining Board may carry out off-site interviews (i.e. videoconference interviews). Candidates wishing to ask for an off-site interview need to submit a justified request by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. These interviews will be held on the same scheduled dates set by the School.

The Examining Board will be in charge of checking candidates’ identity during off-site interviews. All candidates are required to bring the same ID document as attached to their online application.

During the interview, the Examining Board evaluates candidates’ logical reasoning, flexibility, relational skills along with interaction and comprehension in/of English. The English language proficiency at B1 level will be assessed for those candidates who did not submit any English proficiency certifications but it will not incur any additional score. In particular, the following language requirements will be assessed: phonological competence, structure, vocabulary, fluency, interaction and comprehension.

Candidates who obtain a score of 1000/1600 or more will be considered eligible and they will be included in the final ranking list. ATTACHMENT 1: To enter the CLEC-Management programme one of the following certifications is required:

- Official SAT Score Report obtained prior to March 2016 – Called ‘pre-2016-SAT (up to 2400 points) - Official SAT Score Report obtained from March 2016 on – Called ‘New-SAT’ (up to 1600 points) - Official TOLC-E score report, obtained not prior to 01/01/2015, indicating at least 17/30 points in the compulsory

section of English proficiency OR any English Language certificate at B1 level among those deemed valid at point 4. - Non-EU candidates ONLY: Official High School Transcript of records issued by a secondary education institution

(in Italian or English) containing Mathematics and History marks obtained in the final year or in the year before last and in the previous one (or in the last two years available).

For the first selection session (or intake), the Evaluating Board will draw up two different ranking lists, one for each quota; for the second and third possible selection session (for Italian, EU and equivalent status candidates ONLY) the Evaluating Board will draw up a single ranking list for each intake. Rankings will be calculated on the basis of the New-SAT scale. In order to compare pre-2016 SAT with New-SAT

scores, the following concordance tables and conversion keys will be used to the purpose. TOLC-E scores will be

transformed in equivalent pre-2016-SAT scores with the concordance table indicated below. Pre-2016-SAT scores

will be then converted onto the New-SAT scale through the concordance tables (pre-2016 and New) designed on

the basis of those released by the College Board and available at:

https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/higher-ed-brief-sat-concordance.pdf

For example, considering a given TOLC-E score, the equivalent SAT score is obtained by:

- detecting the relevant conversion key TOLC-E

- identifying the closest data to the previous key on the conversion key SAT column.

It is then possible to apply the same rules to compare pre-2016-SAT score with the New-SAT scale and get the final

score.
