(Filed Patent)

Table Top Tesla Coil

Page 4: SCHOOL OF ELECTRICAL sciences

Students designed and created Tesla coil which can generate very High voltage.

High impulse voltages are required for testing purposes to simulate over-voltages that

occur in power systems due to lightning or switching surges.

Mentor: Mr.A.Abikoshy ,Prof. EEE

High voltage is used for insulation testing of various components in power systems

namely power frequency a.c, high frequency, switching or lightning impulses.

PYRO AEGIS- Fire Protection for Trains

Mentor: Dr.A.K.Parvathy

Pyro Aegis process is to help in alerting the passengers with the alarm system and

automatic raising of the emergency windows for the convenient escape of passengers

in case of fire accidents.

As fire accidents take place in the trains, the fire sensors (smoke as well as heat

sensors i.e GST multi sensors) are used for the detection of fire in fire prone coaches

namely, engine, pantry car and the AC coaches.

These sensors are connected together to a panel in the train. The panel also has a

buzzer that rings when the fire is detected.
