The College School, celebrating its
50th anniversary, engages children,
ages 3 to eighth grade, in joyful,
meaningful and creative learning
through an adventurous, theme-
based, experiential curriculum.
The diverse community works as a
partnership, cultivating excellence
in academics, character and col-
laboration, as the school prepares
students for life-long learning,
service and citizenship. The early
childhood program incorporates
the Reggio philosophy. Engaging
spaces include a greenhouse, gar-
dens, early childhood studio, teach-
ing kitchen, Spanish classroom and
theater, plus 28 acres for extended
study. Fall Open House: Saturday,
Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to noon. Check web-
site for Friday Admissions Coffee
dates or schedule a personal tour.
For 100 years Community School
has provided an outstanding edu-
cation for children age 3 to sixth
grade. The challenging academic
standards are supported by the 7:1
student/teacher ratio. Test scoresrank among the nations highest.
Music, art, P.E., drama, woodshop
and foreign language are closely
integrated with academics. A beau-
tiful 16-acre wooded campus has
playing felds, a nature trail, but-
tery garden and pond. This year a
new Centennial Arts Center is be-
ing built, with improved classrooms
for music, art, band and drama, as
well as a 500-seat auditorium.
Cor Jesu continues to advance
its tradition of excellence and in-
novation after expanding its cam-
pus, clinching the Midwest FieldHockey and State Racquetball
Championship, and heading to the
Basketball Final Four last year.
This fall Cor Jesu launched the
STEM Initiative with Watlow and
other corporations in the industry,
giving hands-on experience in
the STEM industries to prepare
students for future careers. Visit
the Open House: Sunday, Nov. 3,
12 noon to 4 p.m. to learn more.
