Count your Blessings!! St. James is blessed to have your children as a part of our St. James family. As I look at what is coming up for our school over the next few weeks (athletic games & tournaments, math competition, science fair, spelling bee, National Lutheran Schools Week, etc.), while it may seem as if its very busy, this time also recognizes and showcases all of our students, teachers, and volunteers time, talents and efforts to make St. James what it is today. Our students work hard to achieve academic excellence and to use their God-given talents for His glory. Our teachers use their God-given talent and ability to reach and teach so that their students may reach their full potential, and without all the parents and volunteers to help man and organize, some of the experiences that normally take place would not happen. It will be a busy next few weeks, but will be full of celebrations as we showcase the many talents of our young people and the blessings of being a part of a Lutheran school. Thanks be to God for all the blessings that He has given to us! Mark Your Calendars!!! On Friday, January 12, St. James had a snow day. The makeup day is set for Friday, May 11, 2018. Report Cards for the 2 nd quarter will be coming out Wednesday, January 17. With the snow day and the delay, it has changed our original plans. We are sorry for the inconvenience. PRESCHOOL 2'S NEWS AND NOTES (MRS. WOLLENBURG)

PS 2’s Ms. Eggold There is no better time than cold and flu season to focus on the importance of hand washing, teeth brushing, and other good hygiene habits. The

children in the Orange Room will learn this week that by washing away dirt and germs, we can limit the spread of sickness.

*There will be soap, water, rags and sponges in our sensory table for dishwashing.

*In art we will do splatter painting with toothbrushes; we will do "sneeze" painting with water bottles; and soap bubble painting with straws, dish

detergent, and tempera paint.

*In science we will have children touch one piece of bread and will put it in a plastic bag and take an untouched piece of bread and do the same. Over

the days and weeks to come we will watch more mold grow from the germs on the touched piece of bread. We will also make homemade toothpaste

and give it a try.

*The dramatic play area will be set up like a house for kids to clean, and students will have a clothesline and socks to hang on it using clothespins.

*We will review the letter B and introduce the letter N using our Zoophonics song.

*There will be sorting and counting at the center tables, along with puzzles and play doh.

*During Jesus' Time we will learn how Jesus was baptized in the Jordan. Students will also find out that when we are baptized our sins are washed

away and we are given new life.

It's going to be a week filled with good, clean fun!

Two weeks to meet the goal!

In honor of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, and also the

blessings of Lutheran Schools, St. James Lutheran School has set a goal to

collect 500 cans of NON-CONDENSED soup and/or canned pastas for the

St. James Food Pantry.

If 500 cans of soup are collected by Friday, January 19, the K-8

grade students will celebrate with a bowling field trip during Lutheran

Schools Week on Tuesday, January 23. There will be no cost to students,

however, if the goal is not reached the cost will be $2.00 per student

(deducted from each student’s field trip registration fund). Special thanks

to the PTL and Thrivent Action Team for sponsoring this school community

building event.

We will be collecting in the St. James Classrooms and there is also a

donation box in the cafeteria. Please prayerfully consider helping in this

very needed venture. THANK YOU!
