This picture shows a tire with a RFID tag and it can be read when scan.RFID TagRFID tags can be use to track almost anything such as humans, object, and animals.RFID tags are most known to track cattle and shipping goods.3SafetyTracking devices on students are essential to find out the whereabouts of students.RFID chips can not be turned off. Can be thought of as a GPS tracking device.Parents are assured the safety of their children.Some RFID chips work only in school buildings, other RFID chips work outside.4

The link above is about a principal who approves of tracking device for her mentally disabled students. She believes in exploring the environment to a certain limit. Safety and health are most important.

Locating where students are can limit accidents and injuries to occur.Reduces disabled children from being lost.

5Students are not tracked 24/7, there are usually checked if they are absent in a class. Students should not feel they do not have any privacy because it is only used for safety measures in school.

Looking at a Tracking Device on the ComputerStudents are tracked on the computer; it shows a map and students are represented through dots.Some tracking devices work only school ground but others also work outside of school.

6A federal judge in Texas stated the tracking device does not violate students rights of freedom of religion.The ruling encourage the student to transfer to a class without a tracking device, but encourage wearing the tracking ID.

Students are wasting their time and effort on rebelling, if attendance was not a problem schools wont care for tracking devices.Schools are not using this device to track students at home; therefore, it does not invade privacy.7Benefits SchoolsAccording to the school, Anson Jones Middle School, it expects a $2 million dollar return from funding while a portion will go towards the chip Ids.The money spent on the ID chips is worth it for the benefits and funding money.ID cards have been used successfully at Houstons Spring Independent School District for the past five years.Funding helps pay for many things such as the building and new technology.

8Gives students more responsibility; they need to be punctual and can not cut class.Teachers are responsible for students in grade school; therefore, the tracking device eases the worries of missing students.

Staff can track students; teaches students in the real world they need to be on time.Many schools have incentives for students who obey the use of tracking devices such as privilege in going to field trips or prom. Events.


In Northside School District of San Antonio, students wear their id cards on a lanyard around their neck. This allows staff to quickly identify students.When staffs know students names it shows they care.Allows students to use id cards for lunch line and check out library books.Staff at Anson Jones Middle School state the benefits of a tracking id outweighs the privacy concerns.Scanning bar codes allows students to eat lunch faster.10

Above is a picture of a tracking id, the tracking chip is on back of the card. This microchip allows information being transmitted to the reader viewing students location.
