You can be assured that your child is receiving a quality education because students are taught by qualified teachers, the curriculum is rigorous and integrated with best professional practices, our school complies with the State of MN guidelines for safety and well-‐being, and oversight is provided by a concerned governing body. Marathon 2015 – We Walk-‐We Pray
Our school goal: $40,000 We are well on our way. For our 1st Tally Friday we have $9220.00 in pledges so far. This is a great start to achieving our goal. With hard work and prayer, we can accomplish this. (The required fundraising amount for Marathon is $150/student.) NEW THIS YEAR: With any size pledge, and even if a pledge is not given, a student is encouraged to invite the person to share a name of a special person, group or cause that he or she can walk and pray “in memory of” or “in honor of” on Marathon Day. There is room on the pledge sheet for this information. On Marathon Day, we will walk and pray for all the intentions and our school mass on Oct. 14th will be held to offer up prayer for all our intentions. ***We hope to see everyone on Saturday, October 3rd at 9:00 a.m. at Sanborn Park. NEW: A big thank you to our Men’s Club for sponsoring our picnic this year! Stop by and say hello to learn about the great things they do for our Sacred Heart community.

Did you Know? Fundraising Commitment per family Fundraising is an integral part of our school community and its continued success. All Sacred Heart families are responsible to fundraise a total of $225.00 per student. This fundraising amount is built into the annual budget and helps keep tuition affordable. Families may either choose to add the $225.00 per child to the tuition contract at the beginning of the year, or families may fundraise the $225.00 per child through any or all of the following events: -Annual Marathon for Non-public Education (October). Sacred Heart keeps 100% of proceeds. $150.00 per child recommended minimum. The Marathon is Sacred Heart Catholic School’s main fundraising event. Many families fulfill their fundraising requirement through this fundraiser alone. -Catholic United Financial Raffle is a raffle in which schools are chosen each year by Catholic United Finance to participate. Raffle specifics and details may vary year to year. Tickets sold Feb/March. -Gerten’s Plant Sale (March) 35-40% of the proceeds benefit the school and qualify towards fundraising dollars. -Magazine Drive (dates dependent on raffle choice) 40% of the proceeds benefit the school and qualify towards fundraising dollars. Remember families may select the fundraisers that help them reach the fundraising commitment of $225 per student. You do not have to participate in each fundraiser. They are provided to give families a choice.
Essential 3 The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis requires three things for volunteers who work with students in Catholic schools or parishes. Sessions are offered at various times, days and locations (see www.virtus.org for a list of sessions). 2. Successfully complete a background check. Background check forms are available in our school office. Completed forms should be returned to SHCS’s main office, Attention Karen Bursey. 3. Sign a Volunteer Code of Conduct form and return it to SHCS’s main office, Attention Karen Bursey. The form is available at our website.

Did you know? Sacred Heart Catholic School has a Bully Policy and Incident Reporting Form. With guidance from the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Mpls. and input from our School Advisory Committee, Sacred Heart has a new policy implemented Spring, 2015, to help resolve bully issues. According to our policy, all students are “created in the image and likeness of God, each child shares a fundamental human dignity. A Catholic school provides an environment dedicated to protecting and fostering the development of that dignity. “ Our goal is to provide a positive learning environment for our students free from bullying and harassment. In the next week, Ms. Bursey will be visiting each classroom to talk to the students and explain the policy and incident form. The policy can be found in our Parent/Student Handbook and our school website under Announcements.

Middle School News: Our middle school has a great opportunity on Tuesday to spend the day participating in the NET Retreat here at school. The NET team is trained in the teaching of the Catholic Church and they bring an excitement of learning about our faith. Our theme will be “Reality Check.” Today, students have many outside influences that can affect their lives. The theme takes a look at how the world influences the way we live our lives, and how God presents us with a new, life-‐giving reality.
