THIS MUSICAL IS ALL ABOUT ROCK!

Cast in September, the students (from Years 8-11) have been working towards this performance for many months. It has been a pleasure to work with this cast who have put so much effort into creating this show. This musical ‘Schools Will Rock You’ follows the success of many large scale productions at Catmose College. We are delighted to be able to use a talented group of musicians in our band who have consistently delivered a high standard of performance. The inventive choreography was created and taught by Year 10 and 11 students with much enthusiasm. We have been especially impressed with the Camper Van (used in later scenes) which was designed and constructed by two Year 9 students Eric and Talek. We have had a great team working on this musical, without which it would not have been the success it is.

So all we can say is sit back, enjoy the music, the lights, the story and the Rock!

HARVEY STAFFORD: After attending Catmose for the past five years and playing a key role in the technical team, ‘Schools Will Rock You’ is Harvey’s last performance at Catmose. Harvey joined the technical team in 2011 for ‘Hairspray’ where he was the Deputy Stage Manager. The following year Harvey Stage Managed ‘Alice in wonderland’ and this year he continues his role as Stage Manager. Harvey is a keen cricketer and a second Dan black belt in Shotokan Karate. Next year Harvey will be studying maths, physics, Economics and applied ICT at Melton Vale Post 16 centre.

NATALIE HALL:I have been dancing since I was three years old. I have been in many College performances including Annie, Hairspray and Alice In Wonderland. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching both the chorus and core dancers and also working with the other choreographers.

POPPY SPENCER:I have had the pleasure of choreographing for different musicals at Catmose, I regularly dance after school, and have taken part in every musical we put on.

FRANCESCA KENNARD-KETTLE:I have had a passion for dance since a young age. Therefore when the opportunity arose to do choreography for ‘Schools Will Rock You’ I couldn’t turn it down.

GRACE PRICE: I was involved in the choreography of the last production “Alice in Wonderland’ and it was such a great experience that I was inspired to be a choreographer again for ‘Schools Will Rock You’. I have loved developing the choreography with my partner Poppy.

SEBASTIAN QUINN:I have always wanted to be the lead in a Catmose musical, even before I started Catmose. Drama has been my passion throughout Catmose life and to be given the role of Galileo, a main role, is amazing! A dream come true!

ELLE TAYLOR:I have enjoyed participating in musical theatre since year 8 when I played Annie. When we went to see We Will Rock You in London I instantly wanted to play the role of Scaramouche. I love all the songs and my character is so witty.

MEGAN SPENCER: I wanted to be in the school musical because it would be my last chance to act at the college as I am in year 11. I have enjoyed my experience as everyone gets along which creates a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

WILL KENNARD-KETTLE:I have been involved in an array of productions during my time at Catmose. These include: ‘Grease’, ‘Annie’ and ‘Hairspray’ where I performed the role of Edna. Last summer, I auditioned and gained a place in the National Youth Theatre.

LOUISA ORCHARD: During my time at Catmose I have taken part in all of the productions. I had a fantastic time taking part in ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and I am really looking forward to ‘Schools Will Rock You’.

CHARLIE WATT: I really wanted a lead role in this musical as it is my last chance to act in front of an audience at the collegel. Although rehearsals have been very stressful. It was a good experience and I have enjoyed it thoroughly.

JAMES CARTER:I decided to audition for this role as it was something different to the other characters, and loved the fact that it was crazy, mad and reflected some of my personality as a person. I have always loved studying drama.

KURT WIDDOWSON:I decided to take part in this production as it is my last year at Catmose. I have really enjoyed playing Sir Paul McCartney – one of the lead Bohemians.
