Dear Parent / Carer

I am writing to inform you about the school holiday to Paris next year. This will take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend, from Thursday 3 May to Monday 7 May with pupils missing one day of school on the Friday. Pupils will leave school at about 1.30pm on the Thursday, travel by luxury coach to Hull and sail on the overnight ferry crossing to Zeebrugge, (evening meal and cabin included in price.) Day 2 will involve pupils visiting the beautiful Belgian city of Bruges before travelling to Paris and following the itinerary for Days 3-5 below. The cost for this trip is £399.

Day 3 (Saturday 5 May)We will be spending the day visiting the major landmarks of Paris, including a sail on the Seine.

Day 4 (Sunday 6 May)Full day at Disneyland. Following this we will travel overnight through the Channel Tunnel arriving in Chorley very early morning the next day (Monday 7 May). (Arrival time could be as early as 6.30am!)

AccommodationWe are staying at the Ibis Hotel in Marne la Vallee area of Paris. Please note – this hotel will not exclusively be for us and other guests will be staying there. The price stated above includes the overnight ferry cabin and evening meal, passport, accommodation, half board (pupils will be expected to buy their own lunch) travel insurance and excursion fees.

PaymentPayment may be made in full or alternatively by instalments. To maintain guaranteed prices it is vital that the following minimum payments are forwarded to us by the dates given:

Initial deposit of £150 Thurs 12 October Second instalment of £150 Thurs 16 November Third instalment of £99 Thurs 22 February

Pupils who are interested in this holiday must return the attached form to Mr Topping by Tuesday 3 October. Please do not make any payments or send in any cheques before this date!.

It is quite possible the trip will be oversubscribed so we will more than likely have to draw the names out of a hat. Pupils who have submitted their forms will be asked to attend a meeting at BREAK time on Wed 4 October in L3 where pupils

will be asked to write their names on a list with their friends. A list of pupils who are successful will then be put up on Fri 6 October outside L3.

Following successful selection your child will receive a second letter. Following this, please could the first deposit of £150 then be brought in by Thursday 12 October, in cheque form addressed to: St Michael’s CE Academy Trust or through SchoolComms. Please hand in all cheques directly to the front office clearly labelled as Paris holiday 2018.

As you will appreciate, the safety and security of pupils and staff is paramount. Inclusion on the trip is at the discretion of the headteacher in consultation with the visit leader and staff involved. Behavioural issues, (M4 detentions, pupils on report, Time Out / PGU, exclusions,) will be closely monitored following selection for the trip and the trip leaving date. Where possible, a warning will be given to the pupil and parents contacted. Should any pupils be causing concern the school has the right to remove a pupil from the trip with all instalments paid to date being refunded.
