Science 9 – Mitosis
STOP-MOTION ANIMATION
BY KENNETH SONGO AND BRANDON
Early Prophase
Late Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
Early Protophase
First Stage of mitosis
Replicated chromosomes coil up into X-shaped chromosomes
Nucleolus disappears and nuclear membrane begins to break down
Spindle Fibres begin to form
Centrioles begin to move apart (Animal Cell)
Late Prophase
Centrioles complete forming
Spindle fibres and chromosomes attach at the centromeres
Nuclear membrane disappears
Metaphase
Spindle fibres tug at each other forcing the X-shaped chromosomes into a single line across the center
Anaphase
Spindle fibres contract and shorten
Centromere gets pulled apart
Sister chromatids are pulled to each poles of the cell
Sister chromatids are now considered chromosomes
Telophase
Final Stage of mitosis
One complete set of chromosomes are at each pole
Spindle Fibres disappear
Nucleolus and Nuclear membrane forms once again
Cell is ready to divide
