Department of Conservation has management responsibility for just under 30% of

the land area of New Zealand, as well as oversight of protected

species, and the marine and coastal environment. Head Office

and the conservancies of the Department produce a wide range

of publications, from policy documents to recreation pam-

phlets. This catalogue features the scientific publications which

are published by the Science and Research Division.

Science Publications are the result of scientific investigations undertaken in support

of the management tasks of the Department. Research is pub-

lished as stand alone books, as well as in several series includ-

ing: Science & Research Series a fully reviewed irregular monograph

series reporting the investigations conducted by DoC staff. Conservation Science Publications single volumes on conserva-

tion matters of national interest. DoC Technical Reports instructional guidebooks, and data sets

aimed at the conservation officer in the field. Science for Conservation a fully reviewed irregular monograph se-

ries, reporting on the science investigations purchased from inde-pendent providers.

Conservation Science Advisory Notes notes in response to specificquestions asked by Departmental staff, concerning matters whichhave arisen in the course of their management duties.

Science & Research Internal Reports progress reports on scientific

matters on going in the Department.

The material in this catalogue is available to anyone with an in-

terest in conservation. To order please use the form provided,

or ring and discuss your needs with us.
