Ans. Clothes that are specific to certain places and the people living there are known as traditional clothes. Q.6 How are clothes useful to us ? Ans. We wear clothes to protect us from heat , cold , rain and dust. They keep us comfortable and also make us look smart. Q.7 Differentiate between natural and synthetic fibres . Ans Natural fibres- (a) Fibres that are obtained from plants and animals are called natural fibres. (b) They are good absorbers of water . eg. Cotton , jute , wool and silk are natural fibres.

Synthetic fibres - (a) Fibres made by man in factories are known as synthetic fibres or man made fibres . They are not obtained from plants and animals. (b) They do not absorb water or sweat. eg. During summer season we wear light- colored cotton clothes as they absorb less heat and more sweat. Cotton clothes let the air in so we also feel comfortable. Winter-

During winter season we wear clothes made of wool , fur , leather or thick clothes to keep our body warm . Dark coloured clothes absorb more heat that's why such clothes are preferred in winters.

Q. 9 List three methods that can be used to take care of clothes. Ans. Three methods that can be used to take care of clothes are-

a. Use a mild detergent for washing silk and Woollen clothes.

b. Woollen and silk clothes should be kept with moth balls or dried neem leaves in boxes or almirahs to prevent insects such as silverfish from damaging them.

c. Washed clothes must be dried in the sun as sunlight is a natural germ killer( disinfectant). Q.10 What kind of clothes did early humans use to wear ?

Ans. Early humans used to wear leaves , bark of trees and skin of animals to cover their body. Paste the pictures of : 3 natural fibres 3 synthetic fibres
