What is the South Carolina Junior Golf Association? Established in 1990 by community leaders with a love for the game and a commitment to passing on golf's heritage to the youth of South Carolina, the SCJGA is committed to meeting the needs of all young people in the state and providing playing opportunities to boys and girls that might not otherwise have the chance to experience golf and its many benefits. Golf can and does shape the lives of kids throughout South Carolina. It promotes healthy competition, fosters a drive to succeed, and teaches many lessons of life. Through the contributions of golfers, courses and businesses across the state, the SCJGA provides opportunities, builds character, and shapes lives. Listed below are all of the different opportunities for junior golfers of different ages and skill level, starting with Clubs for Kids, Golf in Schools, Hootie & The Blowfish Junior Golf Series, graduating up to our major tournament series.

Hootie and the Blowfish Chapter Program This is a “summer only” program available in 14 different regions across the state. Members compete in age groups and accumulate points for All-Stars. The All-Stars Championship is a North/South event held at the end of the season and brings together youth from across the state. *When minimum participation numbers are achieved, the boys and girls 13-18 age groups will earn Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings Points.* This program would not exist without the efforts of Hootie & the Blowfish, our Chapter directors, volunteers and interns. Hootie & the Blowfish continues to support this program annually with a special grant. This grant is dispersed evenly among the 14 chapters and is used to hire interns to help in tournament operations. We appreciate all their efforts in making this program possible. Youth on Course The core purpose of Youth on Course is to provide youth ages 6-18 with access to life-changing opportunities through golf. Members play hundreds of courses for $5 or less. Headquartered in Pebble Beach, Youth on Course is a 501(c)3 organization that began as the charitable arm of the Northern California Golf Association. Since 2006, nearly 650,000 rounds have been played by Youth on Course members and more than $1.25 million has been raised for college scholarships. An important mission of golf associations in the Carolinas is to grow the game! The CGA, CPGA, SCGA, and WSCGA are committed to get juniors golfing at an affordable rate, across North Carolina and South Carolina. For the "Participating Courses," the associations recognize that the $5 fee from the junior golfer may not adequately cover the expense of the round so the associations subsidize participating courses for the remainder of the greens fee. The Carolinas Youth on Course program allows our junior members an opportunity to play a round of golf for $5 at participating golf facilities.
