The sea inundated warehouses and sheds and began to flow into the streets.Ships and boats seemed suspended in mid-air, precariously poised over the water peaks. The book alsodescribes how the gushing waters swallowed an elephant.According to Vijay Kumar Thondaiman, brother of the Thondaiman prince, the library of the royal familyof Pudukotti had a collection of 12000 books dating back to the17th century. These books talk about theBuddhist monastery-Raja Raja Chozan went to conquer Sri Lanka and instead became a devotee of theBuddha himself and allowed the Buddhists to build a temple in Nagapattinam. All laser surgeries use the principle of selective photo-thermolysis, choosing a specific amount andwavelength of laser energy for a particular tissue. Different types of lasers are available of which eachtype works in a different manner, and is used for different treatment options.

Lasers have made their way into cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, eyes, ears and nose. Theuse of lasers in cosmetic surgery is almost 50 to 60 percent. Initially lasers were used to remove port-winestains, spider-veins, and hemangiomas. Then came hair removal, photo-rejuvenation, removal ofwrinkles, and removal of pigmentation, freckles, birth marks, and tattoos.
