Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001

The Care Commission became operational in April 2002

It has overall responsibility for registration and inspection of care services in Scotland -Early Education and Childcare, Care Homes and Residential Schools

The Care Commission

Will register and inspect all services according to national care standards issued by Scottish Ministers

Will have its HQ in Dundee with regional offices across the country

Will assess those who wish to provide registered services

Will inspect the services to ensure that they are meeting standards and regulations
