SCROG (Screen of Green) Why use the SCROG method? -Creates several large cola buds in a limited amount of space. -Uses lower number of plants, with a higher yield in a shorter span than any other method. -Great for taking a tall plant and making it fit in a limited height situation. I have put together a simple tutorial using pictures mostly from a grow: -in a 2x2x7 sealed closet with a 400 watt MH during veg and 400 watt HPS during flowering -A spider drip hydro using General Hydroponics nutes, clay ball medium with a bloom booster during flowering and a nute flush at the end. -Continuous exhaust through a charcoal filter with central A/C being piped in.

SCROG (Screen of Green)

Why use the SCROG method?

-Creates several large cola buds in a limited amount of space.

-Uses lower number of plants, with a higher yield in a shorter span than any other

method.

-Great for taking a tall plant and making it fit in a limited height situation.

I have put together a simple tutorial using pictures mostly from a grow:

-in a 2x2x7 sealed closet with a 400 watt MH during veg and 400 watt HPS during flowering

-A spider drip hydro using General Hydroponics nutes, clay ball medium with a bloom booster during

flowering and a nute flush at the end.

-Continuous exhaust through a charcoal filter with central A/C being piped in.

When Plants have begun to flower, you put a screen 6-12” above them.

This is a typical 2” diameter chicken wire. You can use fishing wire criss-crossed 2”

apart. I just used a staple gun to attach the walls of my closet.

You could build a frame for the screen and elevate it on legs above your plant if

necessary.

Here you can see a large bud site that has grown through the screen.

At this point when there is 6” or so above the screen you can take the whole site and put

it over a wire and under another.

I use an alternate method with pipe cleaners training the bud sites to grow where I want

them to:

You can see from the pictures above and throughout this tutorial that I have cut several

of the large fan leaves in half and removed several all together.

This is an ongoing process throughout the SCROG grow that is KEY to maximum bud

size.

I am usually careful during the early budding stage not to remove entire fan leaves. I

begin cutting them in half anywhere that there is some budding taking place below the

fan leaf. The rule is if it is in the way of light to a bud site, it's gotta go.

You can also use the screen to move large fan leaves out of the way of lower bud sites.

Don't be shy, if you have a healthy plant it does not need that huge fan leaf to do just as

well.

As the bud sites continue to appear, adjust and move them so that you have as even a

canopy as possible.

Once the colas become large if they are getting too close to the heat from the lamp you

can easily move and hold them out of harms way.

Continue to train the colas to grow as uniformly as possible. The goal is to fill the

screen entirely.

Throughout the whole process you should be clearing out the undergrowth. Go slowly at

early on. At the end your bonsai may look something like this:

Your buds should be mostly large colas with hardly any popcorn budlets.
