Kristin Tjornehoj is the Director of Band and Orchestra at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls where she is also department chair. Dr. Tjornehoj founded the Three Rivers Concert Band, a group of adult musicians from Minnesota and Wisconsin, who collaborate and participate in international outreach tours. She co-founded the Composers Conference at UWRF that brings chamber music composers together for a 3-day workshop with concerts and seminars. Dr. Tjornehoj has taught courses in wind conducting, history, music appreciation, world music and literature.
An active guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator, Dr. Tjornehoj has served in these capacities throughout the United States and Canada, and in China, The Czech Republic, England, France, Iceland, Scotland and Spain. She has led performance tours throughout the United States and abroad. In April,
Dr. Tjornehoj served as the guest conductor for the Prague Castle Spanish Hall Concert with Hradní stráze a Policie CR (Václav Blahunek, director).
A participating member in several professional scholarly and community organizations, she currently serves on boards/committees of ArtReach St. Croix, Phipps Center for the Arts, St. Croix Valley Community Foundation in addition to the Wisconsin and Minnesota Music Educators Conferences. She is also a member of the League of American Orchestras, National Association for Music Education, National Band Association and the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles. Dr. Tjornehoj is dedicated to church music and has lead the SOV Choir for over 30 years.
From the Heart Quartet specializes in custom-designed programs, performing classics from the Great American Songbook in a fresh and tasteful style.

Tim Swanson grew up in Ellsworth, WI and has lived in Stillwater, MN for the past 20 years. He graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 1985 and was commissioned as an Air Force Officer through their ROTC program. While attending St. Thomas, he studied private voice. Tim has performed in several church and community choirs, as well as soloing for civic and military events, and with Stillwater Community Theater. He has been a member of Stillwater’s Valley Chamber Chorale since 1996. Tim served 23 years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2008. He is currently the Chief Pilot for Cargill’s Corporate Aviation Department. Tim is honored by the invitation to perform tonight with the St. Croix Valley Orchestra at The Phipps
