Features
Curtain fabric has a “Panama” weave which allows the curtain to withstand hot air and smoke at temperatures up to 600°C for 60 minutes

Smoke Curtains are designed to stop the spread of smoke or to channel the smoke to an extraction system within a building. Smoke Curtains normally descend to above head height to allow the safe passage of personnel beneath whilst stopping the buoyant hot smoke.

SD60 Automatic Smoke Curtains - Headbox Configurations
CURTAIN Made from X32k glass cloth micronised aluminium polymer fabric. Curtain fabric has a “Panama” weave which gives the curtain 10% more tensile strength than other fabrics due to the constant thread tension. A bottom bar is fixed to the lower edge of the fabric and is made from twin aluminium angles fixed back to back. The bottom bar helps stabilise the curtain during operation as well as providing weight to ensure the curtain descends when required. GUIDES (AS SPECIFIED) Manufactured from 2mm thick galvanised mild steel and are 100mm deep and 50mm wide. The edge of the curtain is locked into the guides. FINISH Headbox and guides available in a range of standard RAL powder coated colours. The bottom bar comes in white. OPERATION Smoke curtains are designed to descend automatically when a fire alarm signal is received, and automatically retract when the signal is re-set or cancelled. Metalbilt recommends that smoke curtains should not be installed in areas subject to variable air flows. During operation the curtain retracts until the bottom bar contacts the underside of the headbox. The control circuit senses the increased power consumption as the bottom bar attempts to retract further and the current is then reduced until the curtain remains in a stalled condition. When an alarm has been triggered power to the motor is removed and the curtain descends due to gravity until all the fabric is unwound. The control circuit ensures the rate of descent is fully controlled. Battery backup systems are included. MAINTENANCE Ensure access is available for servicing and maintenance.
