Welcome to the new SealSkinz® catalogue for 2009/2010.

Last season was an exceptionally busy time for SealSkinz®; along with

continuing to establish the brand in the outdoor, cycle and country

markets and moving to a much larger factory, we have launched our

brand new football range for SealSkinz® Sport and, as always, a wide

selection of these products is still manufactured in the UK.

We have listened very closely to your feedback and have strived to bring

you the ultimate range of waterproof socks, gloves and hats. They will

cater for everyone from specialists in their field to keen amateurs and

people who just want to be dry when spending time outside with the dog!

This year we have added the Lightweight Socklet and the Lightweight

Mid Calf Sock to our Cycle & Run Collection, along with the Full

Finger and Fingerless Cycle Glove.

Within Outdoor and Country & Equestrian, the range has been strengthened

with the addition of our Walking Sock, the Outdoor Glove and the

Versatility Glove, which is also available in ladies sizing, as well as

improving the design for our Country Sock, Hunting Glove and

Shooting Glove, to ensure that they exactly meet your customers’ needs.

Our final additions to this year’s range are a Fingerless Merino Wool

Glove, a Performance Windproof Glove and a Wide Brimmed

Bush Hat, designed to suit many different pursuits.

Products made with SealSkinz® patented technology are the

ultimate in waterproof, breathable, close-fitting protection for

hands and feet. They are designed to be worn next to the skin.

How do they work?

SealSkinz® have a unique seamless three-layer construction – an outer, a waterproof, highly breathable membrane and an inner lining.

1. Inside layer The inner lining has been specially developed to actively wick moisture away from the skin to increase comfort and warmth and is made from either Coolmax® or Merino wool.

2. Middle layer The waterproof breathable membrane is inserted using patented technology and allows perspiration, as water vapour, to escape whilst preventing water coming in. The membrane typically has a breathability of greater than 65% WVP.

3. Outer layer The outer layer is designed for extra durability and abrasion resistance with stretch-to-fit properties.

WHAT IS SEALSkINz® TECHNOLOGY?

When can I use them?

SealSkinz® can be used wherever and whenever you feel the need for waterproof, breathable protection. From fell running to window cleaning, from mountain biking to dog walking, SealSkinz® provide maximum performance in water, wind, rain or mud.

Note that it is recommended that SealSkinz® socks are not used under wet suit boots – the unique waterproof construction may insulate the foot from the warm water layer between the skin and the neoprene required for the function of the wetsuit.

How do I look after my SealSkinz®?

SealSkinz® are designed to be machine washed and tumbled dried up to 40ºC. Do not iron or dry out on a radiator or other direct heat source.

For this reason we ask that all ‘faulty’ products are returned to us for testing prior to giving the customer a refund/replacement. All goods found to have a manufacturing fault will be replaced free of charge.

MATERIALSMerino Wool Merino wool is much finer than traditional wool and has tiny overlapping scales that case each fibre. These scales are hydrophobic (water repellent). Inside it’s a different story, the fibre core is highly absorbent - hydrophilic.

Merino is therefore a wicking fibre and can absorb and release 10 times more moisture than synthetics. Each fibre can absorb up to one third of its own weight in moisture without feeling clammy or wet to touch. In SealSkinz®, the moisture is then transported through the membrane to keep you feeling warm and dry.

Merino wool has the ability to absorb and release moisture to cool or warm the feet, thus regulating temperature. The merino yarn also has excellent anti-microbial properties helping reduce odour build-up inside your socks or gloves.

Merino wool is used in the new Lightweight Socklet, Thin Mid Calf and Walking Socks as well as Mid Light, Long Light, Mid Thermal, Country and Trekking socks, Ultra Grip and Ultra Grip Hi Vis Gloves.

Coolmax® A specially engineered fibre from Dupont which transports perspiration away from the skin towards the waterproof breathable membrane. The uniquely shaped fibres provide great breathability, even when wet, helping you to stay dry in all conditions.

In moisture management and breathability tests versus competition, Coolmax® is proven to have the fastest drying rate, the quickest and most efficient movement of moisture away from the skin, and the best breathability. Even cotton, which absorbs and retains 14 times more moisture than polypropylene, does not wick moisture away from the skin, like Coolmax®.

Coolmax® is used in the black and white Ultra Light Socks, Hi-Vis Sock and the Ultra Tough Glove.

Primaloft® Primaloft® insulation was originally developed under contract for the United States Army as a replacement for Down because Down absorbs water and loses its insulating properties when wet. Primaloft’s® unique composition was patented and the product line was expanded to meet the specific needs of outdoor enthusiasts.

The light weight and soft Primaloft® insulation core creates millions of air spaces suspended in the microfibre mesh. Even when forced into the Primaloft® core, water is repelled and not absorbed by the patented microfibre structure, so Primaloft® keeps you warm even in wet conditions.

Kevlar® Kevlar® is an advanced technology from DuPont that combines high strength with light weight, and comfort with protection. Products made with Kevlar® range from protective apparel and sports equipment to automotive parts and ropes used on the Mars Pathfinder.

Kevlar® is 5 times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis, yet, at the same time, is lightweight, flexible and comfortable. It is this unique combination of attributes that enables it to be incorporated into the new ‘Ultra Tough’ SealSkinz® gloves to provide excellent cut, abrasion and tear resistance.
