Curriculum/Instruction Programs • Action Plan for Intervention of Student Needs and Response to Intervention(RTI)

– Continue to address the needs of our students through our RTI process when a student is not progressing at an appropriate rate

– Addressing student needs through individual interventions, through a committee of teachers and as a school

• Continue to improve in all academic areas and continue to utilize our reading classes to support our struggling readers.

• Continue to offer a dyslexia reading intervention class for those students who will need this support.

• Continue to offer specific and direct reading and writing strategies for our teachers in their professional development with direct assistance from our district literacy specialist to impact those students who are struggling with literacy skills.

• Continue our year-long Geometry and Algebra IA and IB classes to ensure those struggling students get the instructional help, time and concrete foundational skills that they will need to improve their math skills.

• Continue to improve technology skills by utilizing technology in the classroom using Google Apps and Tools with the support of our District Instructional Technology Facilitator. We are currently almost 1 to 1 with our technology devices, and our goal by the end of this year is to have 1 to 1 technology for all students.

• Continue our English as a Second Language(ESL) Class to support our students who are not native English speakers.

Curriculum/Instruction Programs Cont..

New Additions to our Educational Programs: ACT Prep Class offered both semesters with a math and an English teacher, and a tutorial program called CWPrep that is being used to help students improve their ACT skills to encourage continual growth in their ACT skills inside of school and outside of school. We have several classes that our students can get college credit for called concurrent credit classes: Freshmen English I and II, World Lit I and II, College Algebra, American History, World History and Biology 4hrs (Biology and American and World History were added this year). We offer these classes to students for a reduced rate. We have also added a literacy tool called Membean. Membean provides guided, engaging, multimodal vocabulary instruction while our Adaptive Reinforcement Engine helps students retain what they learn. Multiple ways to learn each word Customized learning for each student Web-based Differentiate instruction because it customizes a learning program for each and every student based on her existing skill level and speed of progress.

Curriculum/Instruction Programs Cont..

We also added a web-based math program called IXL Math. With IXL, math is more than just numbers. With unlimited questions, engaging item types, and real-world scenarios, IXL helps students experience math at its most mesmerizing. It is personalized learning at its best, and this program differentiates for our students who need to practice and master math skills to progress in the math curriculum. This year we are using this in our RTI math class to help support our struggling learners.

GRADUATION RATE

The Parental Involvement Plan is to keep parents engaged in their child’s educational

process at all times. – PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT CENTER

Located in the library on the SHS Campus – PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT GROUP Meets periodically throughout the year to discuss the

high school’s ACSIP, relative student issues, and improvements that are valuable to our students at SHS

– 9th GRADE TRANSITION PROGRAM Ninth grade orientation program designed to welcome

freshmen to Searcy High School during registration and all freshmen participate in an orientation assembly that introduces the teachers and staff that will help them be successful here at SHS

Parental Involvement Increased

❑We will continue with the HAC(Home Access Center) to help our parents and students communicate more effectively with the high school. Parents can check their child’s grades and progress at any time and e-mail teachers about their child’s progress from this interactive website. ❑Parents will receive vital communication through our Thrill Share Service as well. Parents receive a phone call directly from our high school letting parents know about upcoming events: parent-teacher conferences, high school registration and/or school dismissal days due to inclement weather or any other school related activity that parents may need to put on their calendar.

❑The SHS Website/APPs offer parents tips on how to help their students be successful in high school, college, the workforce and correlates with all social media sites. ❑ Teachers are also using a texting application called REMIND101 to assist parents in communicating directly with teachers about current assignments and projects that are due in their students’ classes. The “app” sends the information directly to parents’ phones.

•Future Teachers of America In addition to encouraging and celebrating teachers on the SHS campus, members of FTA also participate in a mentoring program with elementary students at Westside Elementary School. These students are paired with “buddies” to develop relationships and add another level of support for the younger children.
