The Seattle Area News-

It can be a personal story of how you the Fellow-ship or your Higher Power helped to get you through a tough time, your views on a particular quote from the Narcotics Anonymous literature that you happen to like, or a simple expression of gratitude.

You do not have to be a professional writer and

My name is Nikki and I am an

When I chose to become part of

Thoughts From a Fellow Addict… Shanna M.

Holding onto the oars

floating down this river

with many dreams in mind,

just looking at the scenery going by.

My entire soul shinning once again

through recovery I have found my friend.

Through my recovery I have found myself again.

Slave

Whips cracking in my ears lash's stinging with your tears Blood running down my skin

not consciously thinking of my sins continuing my entrapment within my mind

becoming a slave one more time Clouding my visions, shooting my pain

wishing everything could change too afraid to walk away

just becoming more of a slave Bond and gagged with overwhelming shame My master creating weakness inside my brain

myself, too afraid to step up to the pain myself, making me a slave.

In the eyes off a recovering addict,

I see the truth they seek,

a desperation to be in remission

from a relentless disease.

The yearning to reveal the lies and pain

that they have caused, to right their wrongs.

Gaining courage to step up and say,

hello I am a person today,

and I no longer have to be afraid.

Together we can make this change,

and make our lives into something,

that is nothing short of a miracle in another's eyes,

who has lived the same.
