7. LOCATE AND IDENTIFY EXISTING UTILITIES, INCLUDING SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM, AND ASCERTAIN THEIR CONDITION TO ENSURE ADEQUATEPERFORMANCE OF ALL UTILITIES IN NEW CONSTRUCTION. PROTECT UTILITY LINES AND HARDWARE DURING DEMOLITION AND CONSTRUCTION PHASES.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SAFELY SECURE ANY AND ALL PIPING, WIRING, CABLES, OR DEVICES THAT ARE NOT SCHEDULED FOR DEMOLITION THATWERE SECURED BY ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN OR ARE SCHEDULED FOR DEMOLITION.
9. UPON COMPLETION OF THE DEMOLITION WORK, ALL AREAS SHALL BE LEFT BROOM CLEAN TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER.
10. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROMPTLY PATCH AND REPAIR DAMAGE CAUSED TO ADJACENT CONSTRUCTION BY DEMOLITION WORK. RESTORE EXPOSEDFINISHES IN A MANNER THAT ELIMINATES EVIDENCE OF PATCHING AND REFINISHING.
11. IF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS ARE ENCOUNTERED DURING DEMOLITION OPERATIONS, NOTIFY OWNER IMMEDIATELY COMPLY WITH APPLICABLEREGULATIONS, LAWS, AND ORDINANCES CONCERNING REMOVAL, HANDLING, AND PROTECTION AGAINST EXPOSURE OR ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.BURNING OF REMOVED MATERIALS IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE PROJECT SITE.

5. MAINTAIN ALL EXISTING SERVICES IN USE AT ALL TIMES UNLESS WRITTEN PERMISSION IS RECEIVED FROM THE OWNER TO TEMPORARILY INTERRUPTANY SUCH SERVICE. PERMANENTLY RECONNECT ALL SERVICES DISRUPTED BY THE ALTERATION AND DEMOLITION WORK.
6. SELECTIVE DEMOLITION WORK INCLUDES REMOVAL OF NON-STRUCTURAL ITEMS INDICATED. REFER TO ELEC, DEMOLITION DWGS FOR ADDITIONALSCOPE. THIS DRAWING DOES NOT SHOW ELEC, WATER, HVAC, AND MOST OTHER SERVICES.
7. LOCATE AND IDENTIFY EXISTING UTILITIES, INCLUDING SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM, AND ASCERTAIN THEIR CONDITION TO ENSURE ADEQUATEPERFORMANCE OF ALL UTILITIES IN NEW CONSTRUCTION. PROTECT UTILITY LINES AND HARDWARE DURING DEMOLITION AND CONSTRUCTION PHASES.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SAFELY SECURE ANY AND ALL PIPING, WIRING, CABLES, OR DEVICES THAT ARE NOT SCHEDULED FOR DEMOLITION THATWERE SECURED BY ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN OR ARE SCHEDULED FOR DEMOLITION.
9. UPON COMPLETION OF THE DEMOLITION WORK, ALL AREAS SHALL BE LEFT BROOM CLEAN TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER.
10. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROMPTLY PATCH AND REPAIR DAMAGE CAUSED TO ADJACENT CONSTRUCTION BY DEMOLITION WORK. RESTORE EXPOSEDFINISHES IN A MANNER THAT ELIMINATES EVIDENCE OF PATCHING AND REFINISHING.
11. IF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS ARE ENCOUNTERED DURING DEMOLITION OPERATIONS, NOTIFY OWNER IMMEDIATELY COMPLY WITH APPLICABLEREGULATIONS, LAWS, AND ORDINANCES CONCERNING REMOVAL, HANDLING, AND PROTECTION AGAINST EXPOSURE OR ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.BURNING OF REMOVED MATERIALS IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE PROJECT SITE.
12. COORDINATE ALL DEMOLITION WORK ON THE EXISTING BUILDING WITH THE OWNER BEFORE PROCEEDING.

1. ALL NEW SUPPLY AIR DIFFUSERS AND RETURN AIR REGISTERS SHALL BE EQUIPPED W/ MFGR. SUPPLIED VOLUME DAMPERS.
2. FIRE DAMPERS SHALL BE PLACED IN ALL DUCT OR TRANSFER AIR PENETRATIONS OF ALL FIRE RATED PARTITIONS. SEEARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS FOR FIRE RATED PARTITIONS. PROVIDE LABELED ACCESS DOORS AS NEEDED. FIRE DAMPERS ANDINSTALLATION ARE TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE.
3. PIPES, BUS DUCTS, CABLES, WIRES, AIR DUCTS AND SIMILAR BUILDING SERVICE EQUIPMENT THAT PASS THROUGH SMOKEPARTITIONS SHALL BE PROTECTED AS STATED IN NFPA 101. THE SPACE BETWEEN THE PENETRATING PIPE OR DUCT AND THE SMOKEBARRIER SHALL:
A. BE FILLED WITH A MATERIAL CAPABLE OF MAINTAINING THE SMOKE-RESISTANCE OF THE SMOKE BARRIER OR
B. BE PROTECTED BY AN APPROVED DEVICE DESIGNED FOR THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE.
INSULATION AND COVERINGS FOR PIPES AND DUCTS SHALL NOT PASS THROUGH FIRE BARRIERS UNLESS ONE OF THESE REQUIREMENTS IS MET. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CHOOSING WHICH ALTERNATIVE TO USE UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIEDIN THE DRAWINGS OR SPECIFICATIONS.
4. MANUFACTURERS OF ALL COILS SHALL ENSURE THAT THE COILS ARE CLEAN AND FREE OF ANY RESIDUE FROM THE MANUFACTURINGAND SHIPPING PROCESS. IF COILS ARE FOUND TO BE DIRTY OR SMOKE WHEN HOT WATER IS PROVIDED TO THEM, THE CONTRACTORWILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING OF THE COILS, AS WELL AS, CLEANING THE BUILDING FROM SMOKE, COIL EMANATIONS, ORVAPORS.
5. THE RETURN AIRFLOWS INDICATED ON THE PLANS CORRESPOND TO THE OCCUPIED MODE WITH MINIMUM OUTSIDE AIR BEINGSUPPLIED. THE BALANCE REPORT IS TO INDICATE THESE AIRFLOWS IN THIS MODE OF OPERATION.
6. HVAC EQUIPMENT SHALL BE FURNISHED WITH A MOTOR STARTER SUITABLE FOR THE OFF-ON CONTROL OF THE MOTOR BY A REMOTETHERMOSTAT OR BAS CONTACT. THESE STARTERS SHALL COMPLY WITH NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE.
7. ALL AIR HANDLING UNITS AND FAN COILS ARE TO BE INSTALLED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE, UNOBSTRUCTED, ACCESS AND CLEARANCEFOR AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT.
8. ALL MOTORS FURNISHED AND INSTALLED BY THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR (OR A MECHANICAL SUBCONTRACTOR) SHALL BE PROTECTED AGAINST OVERLOAD IN ACCORDANCE WITH NED.
9. EXHAUST OR RELIEF VENTS AND PLUMBING VENTS SHALL BE LOCATED A MINIMUM OF 10' FROM ANY INTAKE AIR OPENING.
10. ALL NEW CEILING MOUNTED AIR INLETS AND AIR OUTLETS ARE TO BE COORDINATED WITH LIGHTING. A NEAT, SYMMETRICALINSTALLATION IS TO BE MAINTAINED, WITH CEILING MOUNTED AIR INLETS/OUTLETS IN PROXIMITY TO LOCATIONS SHOWN ON THEPLANS. IN THE CASE THAT THERE IS A CONFLICT, THE LOCATION OF THE LIGHTING WILL TAKE PRIORITY AND THE INLET/OUTLET SHALLBE RELOCATED AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE. DUCTWORK SHOP DRAWINGS ARE TO SHOW PLACEMENT OF AIR INLETS/OUTLETS WITHLIGHTING OVERLAID ON THE SAME PLAN. CONTRACTORS ARE TO USE REFLECTED CEILING PLAN AS BASIS FOR COORDINATION.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL WALL, FLOOR AND ROOF PENETRATIONS REQUIRED FOR DUCT ROUTING. THE CONTRACTORSHALL PATCH AND PAINT ALL PENETRATIONS LEFT BY DEMOLITION WORK AND BY CLEARANCE OPENINGS THAT REMAIN AFTER NEWDUCT INSTALLATIONS.
12. NOTIFY THE OWNER IN THE EVENT ANY EXISTING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, SUCH AS ASBESTOS, PCB'S, LEAD, ETC., AREENCOUNTERED ON THE PROJECT. THE OWNER WILL ARRANGE WITH A QUALIFIED SPECIALIST FOR THE IDENTIFICATION, TESTING,REMOVAL, HANDLING AND PROTECTION AGAINST EXPOSURE OR ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION, TO COMPLY WITH APPLICABLEREGULATIONS, LAWS AND ORDINANCES.
13. ALL THERMOSTATS SHOWN ON HVAC PLANS ARE TO BE MOUNTED 4'-0" MAXIMUM AFF (TOP OF UNIT), UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MOUNTING & WIRING ALL THERMOSTATS. PLENUM RATED CABLES MUST BE USED.

M-2 DRAIN BUILDING-WIDE CHILLED WATER SYSTEM AS REQUIRED TO CONNECT NEW 1" CHWSR TO EXISTING 6" CHWSR. PROVIDE ISOLATION VALVES AT CONNECTION TO EXISTING PIPE RISERS. SHUTDOWN OF CHILLED WATER SYSTEM IS TO OCCUR DURING OFF HOURS AND IS TO BE APPROVED INADVANCE WITH OWNER.

GENERAL MECHANICAL NOTES:
1. ALL CONDENSATE PIPING CONCEALED IN WALLS OR EXTERIOR TO BUILDING IS TO BE PROVIDED INCOPPER.
2. AT LOCATIONS WHERE WORK IS REQUIRED ABOVE CEILINGS BUT NO CEILING REPLACEMENT IS TO BEPERFORMED, CONTRACTOR IS TO REMOVE, STORE AND REINSTALL CEILING MATERIALS AS REQUIREDTO FACILITATE NEW WORK. SEE ARCHITECTURAL PLANS FOR EXTENT OF CEILING REPLACEMENT.
3. CONTRACTOR IS TO COORDINATE ROUTING OF PIPES AND DUCTS WITH EXISTING UTILITIES,STRUCTURE, AND ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS.
4. ALL DUCT INSULATION NOT CONCEALED ABOVE CEILINGS ARE TO BE PROVIDED WITH ALUMINUMJACKET. SEE SPECIFICATIONS.
5. ALL PIPE INSULATION NOT CONCEALED ABOVE CEILINGS IS TO BE FINISHED WITH PVC JACKET. SEESPECIFICATIONS.
6. EACH FAN COIL IS TO BE PROVIDED WITH A CONDENSATE REMOVAL PUMP; LITTLE GIANT VCMX-ULS ORAPPROVED EQUAL.
7. PROVIDE FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ALL MOTORIZED EQUIPMENT AND CONNECTING DUCT.
8. EACH FAN COIL IS TO BE PROVIDED WITH AUXILIARY STAINLESS STEEL DRAIN PAN WITH MOISTURESENSOR CONNECTED TO BAS TO FAN SHUTDOWN AND CLOSURE OF CHW VALVE. SEE TYPICALDETAILS.
9. ALL HOT WATER PIPING IS TO BE MINIMUM 1" DIAMETER UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.

1. PROVIDE AN AUTOMATIC WET & DRY PIPE SPRINKLER SYSTEM TO ALL AREAS OF (BUILDING), IN ACCORDANCE WITHCURRENT EDITION OF NFPA (INSERT NFPA EDITION), (INSERT STATE) STATE FIRE PREVENTION REGULATIONS, LOCAL CODES, AND THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION.
2. THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR A MAXIMUM WORKING PRESSURE OF 175 PSI.
3. COORDINATE THE FINAL LOCATION AND TYPE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTION WITH THE FIRE CHIEF OF THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT.
4. WORKING PLANS AND HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS SHALL BE SUBMITTED, ALONG WITH WATER FLOW TEST DATA FROM THE WATER UTILITY PROVIDING SERVICE, FOR APPROVAL TO THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION BEFORE ANY EQUIPMENT IS INSTALLED OR REMODELED. DEVIATION FROM APPROVED PLANS WILL REQUIRE PERMISSION OF THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION.
5. THE FIRE SERVICE MAIN SUPPLYING THIS PROJECT MUST BE HYDROSTATICALLY TESTED AND FLUSH TESTED IN THE PRESENCE OF A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE (NFPA 24). CONTACT THE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE ACCORDINGLY TO SCHEDULE THESE INSPECTIONS.
6. INTERIM INSPECTION OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS AS WELL AS OVERALL FINAL INSPECTION ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT PRIOR TO OCCUPANCY.
7. AT THE TIME OF FINAL INSPECTION CONDUCTED BY THE FIRE MARSHALS OFFICE, THE FIRM OR INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ORIGINAL SUBMISSION OF PLANS SHALL PROVIDE AN ARCHITECTURAL / ENGINEERING GRADE PLAN OF THE BUILDING FOOTPRINT, ON AN 8.5 INCH BY 11 INCH SHEET THAT WILL DETAIL THE FOLLOWING:
A) NAME, ADDRESS, LOCATION OF BUILDING
B) LOCATION OF ALL FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM CONTROL VALVES
C) LOCATION OF ALL FIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTIONS FOR ALL FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS AND STANDPIPES
D) LOCATION OF ALL FIRE ALARM SIGNALING SYSTEM CONTROL AND ANNUNCIATION PANELS
E) LOCATION OF ALL ON SITE FIRE HYDRANTS
F) MAIN BUILDING ENTRANCES.
8. SPRINKLERS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN THE CENTER OF LAY-IN CEILING TILES.
9. FIRE PROTECTION PIPING THAT IS EXPOSED IN OCCUPIED AREAS SHALL BE PAINTED AS SPECIFIED.
10. PIPING LAYOUT SHOWN IS AN APPROXIMATION AND IS INTENDED ONLY TO PROVIDE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE SCOPE OF THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO FIELD VERIFY THE EXACT LOCATION OF ALL HEADS TO INSURE THIS WORK WILL NOT CONFLICT WITH THE CEILING GRID, EXPOSED DUCTWORK, OR LIGHTING FIXTURES, ETC. COORDINATE ALL WORK WITH ALL OTHER TRADE CONTRACTORS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM.
11. PROVIDE SPRINKLER HEADS ABOVE AND BELOW CEILINGS WHERE REQUIRED.
12. ALL PIPING THROUGH FLOOR SLABS ABOVE GRADE ARE TO BE CORED.
13. ALL CORING OF PIPING THROUGH FLOOR SLABS IS TO BE PANS ONLY NO PIPING IS TO BE CORED THROUGH RIBS.
14. THE CENTER LINE OF ALL HOLES CORED THROUGH FLOOR SLABS IS TO BE A MINIMUM OF 1/2 THE DIAMETER OF THE PIPE SIZE FROM THE EDGE OF THE RIB.
15. A PILOT HOLE WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE CORING EACH HOLE THROUGH THE FLOOR SLAB TO VERIFY EXACT LOCATION AND DISTANCE FROM RIB.
16. THIS CONTRACTOR IS TO PROVIDE ALL ADDITIONAL PIPING AND FITTINGS NECESSARY TO SUIT OFFSETS REQUIRED FOR PIPING TO MISS RIBS AND TO SUIT HOLE REQUIREMENTS THROUGH PANS.
