TODAY’S READINGS

First Reading — The glory of the Lord shows through Israel, a light to all nations, that salvation may reach to the ends of the earth (Isaiah 49:3, 5-6).

Psalm — Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will (Psalm 40). Second Reading — All those who call upon the name of the Lord are called to be holy (1 Corinthians 1:1-3).

Gospel — John the Baptist testifies: The one who comes after me, on whom the Spirit comes down and remains, is the Son of God (John 1:29-34).

CALLED TO BE HOLY

With this Sunday we begin Ordinary Time. The readings tell us about God’s relationship with Israel and John the Baptist’s relationship with Jesus. Israel’s relationship with God is so close, so intimate, that it is through Israel that God’s “salvation [will] reach to the ends of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6). But we know from John the Baptist that for Israel to accomplish God’s will, it must also recognize that Jesus is the Son of God. During these weeks we also get to know Jesus. Second Sunday in Ordinary Time Stewardship

Today’s responsorial psalm is the theme song of

a good steward: “Here am I, Lord; I come to do

your will.” May I too, stand ready to offer myself and my gifts in

the service of God.

Vision: To make God, Father, Son & Holy Spirit—known, loved and

served.

Mission: St. Bartholomew is committed to forming dynamic Catholic

Christian disciples through prayer, the Word, Sacraments and

Evangelization.

You are invited to participate

in The Wild Goose series on the Holy Spirit on Sundays. Next class is

on January 19, 2020 will be at 9:15 AM and consists of a short

video and discussion.

We will meet on CCD Sundays in the Parish Hall between the

masses. Just grab a cup of coffee and join us in front of the TV.

RCIA is held on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM. Please contact Msgr. Martin

or Deacon Kenny if your are interested in attending classes.

"The King and His Kingdom" The Bible study of the gospel of Matthew l continues at 7:00 pm on Monday nights in the Parish Hall.

Recently Alex Faulk was recommended to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum pathways to STEM. Alex was recommended by school principal Dr. McCool. He will be attending a week long camp in the summer of 2020. This program is a wonderful opportunity for him to experience various career paths in areas he was observed to excel in.

The 2020 collection envelopes are in and may be

picked up at the back of the church. If you do not

have envelopes and would like them, contact Paulette in the

parish office.

Tax Time is approaching. If you would like to have

a copy of your contributions to the church, contact

High School Youth: ACYC 2020

The Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Conference or ACYC 2020 will take place February 14-16 at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach. All high schoolers are encouraged to attend. Please contact Tiffany (504-6507) for more information and to obtain a registration packet. Registration packets were disturbed to all high schoolers that attend religious education classes at St. Bartholomew on 1/5. Please pray for our young people!

Sponsorships are now available for Cardinals in the Courtyard, St. Michael's 4th annual spring gala fundraiser to be held March 28, 2020! This allows for great advertising opportunities for your business and/or individuals/families can sponsor too! Levels range from $750 - $3000!
